Haha OP here. Sitting waiting for DH at dinner thank goodness for smart phones.
Yeah DCUM will always have trolls to say dumb things to "spice" up a thread. Thanks 18:49's it's funny how you both posted at the same time! Whatever haters can be haters! I should just ignore them as the rude commentators about my looks. Patience patience. 18:44 I feel ya! I just wish ppl would be more diplomatic when giving so called " compliments". About to order a drink... Wish me luck to get it! Haha |

Back to the topic...I am 36 but have always looked young. I recently took a group of university students (aged 20-22) on a tour and the director was insistent I was one of the students and there was no way I could be an instructor. It was quite embarrassing and frustrating. people also assume I have no work experience as I look to young to have worked in the field.
Recently I went to a new doctor and she refused to believe me when I said I was 36 and she went to my file to check it. She then said I looked 16. Overall I am glad to look young, I'm sure some day it will all catch up. I don't actually think I look that young. At the same time it can be frustrating to be treated in a patronizing way. |

Same situation for me. I have a baby face and I am petite. One day I was paying with a credit card for something at Jcrew and the cashier (older woman) asked if I had my moms credit card and said they needed her consent. I glady handed over my license when I was 26 years old and just smiled.
It is a compliment to a certain point but when people just flat out assume you are a teenager is incredibly annoying. The people who do not know how to say it in a nice way just need to learn some manners. |

I posted previously but completely forgot this story...
I worked with Junior Achievement doing High School business prep classes and when I went into the school mid-day to check in, I was in the hall and a teacher stopped me and asked where my hall pass was. Then told me to go to the principal even when I explained I was a visitor. He was intent that I was a student. Until I showed him my employment badge... it was on its way to getting ugly. |
No, 15:02 is right. |

For me it started when I got my first job as a HS teacher and every.single.body thought I was one of the students. OMG field trips were the worst! I had to have my badge on my hands pretty much the entire time!!!
Working with customer service was so frustrating. Nobody ever takes me seriously. When DH introduced me to his friends it was so funny. His great friend whispered "I didn't know you're into barely legal gals" I laughed out loud. The pregnant teen thing happened all the time and the best experience were the old ladies at the waiting room commenting on where were my parents when I needed them the most. Funny, though, I'm not angry or bitter about it like you are. I like it and I always face it with a cheerful attitude. Even when the bouncer called the cops on me for "using a fake ID". The cops took me home and asked to talk to my parents. DH came and joked with them saying that he would spank me for being out late with the other girls. Oh well. try to enjoy while it lasts. If you keep acting bitter it might spoil your looks. |
| Enjoy it while you can. You could end up with an old sagging teenager face when you get older. |
| I'm petite (5'2') with a small frame. This happened to me all the time and I used to get annoyed when it would occur in professional settings. Suddenly, around the time I turned 30, the comments dramatically declined. Not sure if it was the 10 pounds I added to my frame, or the hands of time.....I definitely miss those comments now that I am 33, married, with a little one. |
You are a ho- bag |

PP here, quoting didn't work, sorry about that.
Are you by any chance not American? I am a foreigner and I am tall, but people still thought I was MUCH younger until I turned 30. (I am 31 now) I had my kids when I was 25 and 27 and was routinely mistaken for their nanny, and I always had to show my ID when buying liquor. But honestly, I am not sure what kind of responses you expected on DCUM? |

I get it all the time. 28, 18 month old, 5'2", size 2.
It's usually harmless stuff (getting carded everytime, being stopped for going into a rated R movie, etc), but it irritates me when I'm treated like an inexperienced teenage mom. But I think it bothers me more that people thinks its ok to treat me differently before realizing I'm an educated, home-owning professional. My other pet peeve is older guys who are clearly going thru a midlife crisis who hit on me assuming I'm barely legal. I just think of the young women they will take advantage of who are too naive to guard themselves from these fools. I have been sleep deprived for almost 2 years and I just pray that I don't pay a price for it on my face later. |

My and my DH both look young and get comments and stares all the time when we are out with our baby.
We recently went out on our 3 year anniversay date to a nice restaurant and got treated like crap (they must have thought we were on a prom date or something). We got sat at the table by the door. When I asked to see the wine list they asked for my ID and took it with them to the back to look at it. This was just for the wine list I had not even ordered a drink yet. Then when I did order he asked for my ID again and said "are you sure your old enough" and I said "yes I'm positive I am 29 and this is our 3rd wedding anniversary and I would appreciate if you treated us better" |
| OT but what is a ho-bag? Is that similar to a piece of work? |
I posted that bc the pp was being stupid. I could not think of a word I liked and ppl use bitch and asshole too much on here so I called that poster a ho- bag meaning "irritating bitch" check out urban dictionary it's great! |
