Beauty and Fashion
What a funny post. Why would your weight bother anyone? This whole thread has been totally non-judgemental. |
5'4 1/2 and 155lbs. i feel slightly chubby, but my overall shape is pretty good so as long as i don't try to squeeze into clothes that are too small (I'm an 8/10), i look decent. i'm pretty proportional and have a waist. i probably look slightly thinner than i am, though i don't look skinny by any means. let's not talk about a bathing suit though i've been running lots of races and working out so i'm in good fitness. I actually feel better about my weight than when i was 130 (PP), but that is mental. i obviously looked better at 130, but i dealt with so many body/eating issues in my teens and 20's. I would like to get back to 130 or less and i'm working towards it.

| 5'7" and 146. It's a good weight for me as far as how I look in/out of my clothes and for health reasons, but I wouldn't mind toning up some. I was in much better shape/more athletic/toned before we started TTC'ing and I got put on limited activity. I miss feeling strong. |

5'7" and 163 (this morning). size 10 pants.
i would like to get back to 140, but am having a hard time working exercise into my already complex daily routine. |
5'1 and 120. Just lost about 15 lbs and just got back to a size 2
But no kids yet so Im sure I will be tipping the scale again shortly! Good for all you women who had kids and got your bodies back. Im 28 and I know the older you get its harder so thats awesome you could get back into shape! |
| 5'8", 138 lbs. Big boned and athletic build. I think I look better between 130 and 135, but don't have the discipline to get down there very often. Overall I am okay with how I look, but am self-conscious about my stomach and butt, especially now that it's pool season! |

From one 6' (200lb) woman to the other 6' (140lb) woman: wow, you must be both thin and small-framed! My skinniest weight at this height was 157 when I was 17 and swimming 2-3 hours per day 5-7 days a week. I still look (and feel) skinny through about 170, after that I start to look (and feel) soft although most people guess my weight at about 20 pounds below what it actually is.
Anyway, it has struck me reading these posts how different people's frames and shapes are. I bet if you stood most of us of the same height next to each other it would be hard for most people (men) to accurately guess the differences between our weights. |
| 5'5", althetic/big boned, and probably 127. I really want to have about 3 lbs less fat. I look good from the hips up, but too much cellulite on my butt and thighs. But after 40, I've had to cut back food just to maintain where I'm at now, so cutting back more to lose the fat would mean too strict of a diet - I try it for short periods but don't stick with it. |
5'7" and 146. I don't hate my body the way I did in high school when I was 8 pounds lighter and in much better shape (track team, ran all the time), but it is still depressing to go clothes shopping. It's not that things don't fit -- they do. A 10 in just about any store is guaranteed to fit me. It's just that I often don't like the way I look in the clothes. I have the classic hourglass shape - large breasts, large hips, thin waist - and also a short torso, and I feel like most shirts are cut way too long and emphasize the hips, which are definitely not my best feature. Or the fabric is either light and see-through and I feel like there's not enough coverage for my chest, or there's tons of ruching and detailing at the chest area and I definitely don't need to call any more attention to that area. Ironically, I prefer the way I look naked. So does DH, which goes a long way towards improving my self-esteem.
But my self-image is definitely affected by how active I am. On days that I work out, I feel so much better. I know I can't possibly look different to anyone else, it's nice to feel that I look better in my clothes, even if it's all in my head. I also work in an office now where all the women are much older than me and all are much, much bigger -- most are taller, and those that aren't are just on the larger side. So although it is shallow, it's nice to not be constantly comparing myself with the skinny women my age down the hall. |
| 5'10" and currently around 165 lbs but also 11 weeks pg with my second baby. Am 33 and curvy (big boobs and hips but smaller waist) but most people would probably say I was thin. My happy weight where I feel good about myself is really closer to 155, which is where I was when I got pg with my first but unfortunately had gained about 10 pounds when I got pg this time. And am now starving and refuse to starve myself while pg. I'm a size 10 in clothes and have pretty much stayed that size my entire adult life (though with these last 10 pounds, some of the 10s aren't as flattering as they used to be). When I have this baby, I'm going to watch my diet big time and try to get back down to 155 because am so much happier when I'm there. |
I'm the 6' 140-145lb poster. I am small framed and I think one of those completely irritating people that tends toward the naturally thin side. I have weighed up to 170 (for a brief period in college...ah midnight pizza and buckets and buckets of beer) and at that weight I didn't look heavy exactly. But as you describe, I was very soft and had a much bigger butt. I did hover around 145-150 for years before having my DS. I think the energy it takes to chase DS around and the fact that I go out to eat/drink less now...I've been at my current weight for over a year. I don't do any formal exercising, although I'm very active. But if you saw me...I'm not toned. I'm just skinny. (Painting a pretty picture, right?? ) I feel great in clothes. Don't love wearing a swim suit, but who does and I get over it. And I agree...men have no idea what women weigh. Frames and how people carry weight make a huge difference. |

Check this out to compare different heights/weights on different people. yes, i think your build makes a huge difference. Someone could be my same height and weight and look completely different. There's another website I've seen that does something similar to this (and I think is better) but I couldn't find it.

| 5'6", 155 pounds, about 10 pounds heavier than my ideal weight. No biggie. |
I have a very similar body type to this. Very curvy with a smallish (used to be very small) waist and a big butt. |
