Does not surprise me one bit. I thought the stories were true about the groping and was surprised when Maria came to his rescue. "When there's smoke there's fire..." was what he said at the time. People who have been famous for most of their adult lives get strange. Both Maria and Arnold have spent so much time in the spotlight they probably feel they are invincible. And they know the power of the media. If Maria didn't defend Arnold, how would she look? And of course, they have four children. It has to be embarrassing to them. I'm sure it's hard on them. They are not celebrities -- yet.

How do Presidents carry on affairs? I mean is it like a tender couple of hours where they wish they could spend more time together, or is it like 20 minutes between other appointments ("Hey the Secretary of Labor meeting ended early. Call Nadia and have her come over for a bit.")

I guess he used up whatever last drop of the Kennedy fame, fortune and power he could before deciding to get out. He is a truly awful excuse for a person. So selfish and egotistical.

From your lips to God's ear. I disagree that O is not sexual, have you seen the way that he leers at his wife. Plus I totally see how certain types would throw themselves at him, a la professional athletes. I would like to think that Mrs. O would not play along, but stranger things have happened.

Back to Arnold, I find it hard to beleive that Maria did not or suspect - I mean the mother worked in her house for 10 years

i think i read that she did suspect, but that he lied to her about who the father was and that maria believed that the woman's husband was the father.

I can't imagine how humiliating for Maria to have this woman and her child right there in their home. Plus, do we assume that he continued the affair for ten years? Doubtful that this person continued to work for them otherwise.
