Woodson Feeder Schools

Anonymous
WFES-POE-ANN parent here- Lake Braddock is a schlep, but if it avoids split feeder, that is fine. Didn't buy to get into woodson, it was not zoned woodson when we bought. But, the split feeder really breaks up kids at tender age.

I agree that split feeders should be addressed. When you add up the numbers, there is not much difference between the numbers in options 2 and 3.

Option 1
ES 2012-13: 438
ES 2016-17: 498

MS 2012-13: 369
MS 2016-17: 438

HS 2012-13: 283
MS 2016-17: 302

Option 2
ES 2012-13: 891
ES 2016-17: 1047

MS 2012-13: 611
MS 2016-17: 785

HS 2012-13: 419
HS 2016-17: 430

Option 3
ES 2012-13: 946
ES 2016-17: 1084

MS 2012-13: 637
MS 2016-17: 804

HS 2012-13: 669
HS 2016-17: 634

True, but Option 1, which I prefer, affects many fewer children than either 2 or 3.

I agree.

Driving distance to Woodson is 1.9 miles and driving distance to Lake Braddock is 3.5 miles. Not too bad a difference to eliminate the split feeder.

But Option 1 is just delaying the inevitable and there will end up being another regional study. Might as well just get it all over with at once and clean up split feeders at the same time.

There will always be more studies down the road, regardless of what they do here. This study is doing nothing to ameliorate the impending crowding at Stuart, which is projected to go from 87 percent capacity utilization in 2012 to 103 percent in 2016, even with the proposed changes.

Agreed 15:28. But it may be wise to make the most dramatic change each time there is a study rather than making little changes each time.

And especially with a very different School Board starting in 2012.

This is all the more reason to make the fewest changes that are needed now.

16:09...can you share why you think the fewest changes plus new Board will be better? Thanks!
