How many times can a bank call you a day before it's considered harassment?

I accidentally wrote a $30 something dollar check from the account and it overdrew my account obviously. I got the notice last week but honestly I haven't had time to deal with it. I have 2 under 2, and it doesn't seem like an EMERGENCY. It's not like I don't have the money, it's just annoying because it's another thing on my list. I noticed an 800 number calling my phone in the 7am hour today. I didn't pick up. I've been super busy running errands before the snow, getting in lunch, etc. It's nap time, I'm finally getting a moment and I notice my phone buzzing. This number has called me, 5 times today, twice in the last hour. NO message. I call to see what/who it was and it is Wachovia. I'm tired, and I need a freaking break so I'm not calling them now, I'll probably do it tomorrow. I'm also kind of annoyed at the volume of calls. Isn't that harassment?

Smething strange in your story. I have been banking with Wachovia before it was Signet, then changed to First Union, and now Wachovia. During all these years the only time my acount has ever been overdrawn (over $850.00) was because someone gave me a check that bounced. I found out when my check card transaction was denied. I never received a call from Wachovia and they paid every one of the transactions presented and rescinded fees for overdrafts when I went in and spoke to manager at the branch where I bank. I simply do not believe Wachovia would be calling you about being overdrawn by $30.00.

If I were you, I'd answer the phone and tell them you are aware of the situation and are in the process of rectifying it.

I get super annoyed when the same telemarketers call every single day at the same time - always at bedtime. When it really gets to be too much I will answer one time and tell them I'm not interested and to remove me from their list.

Put your tel. no. on the Do Not Call Registry, 1-800-382-1222, it takes about a month and if they call after that you can keep track ad they have to pay you a fine. Also, telemarketers and creditors have specific hours when they are allowed to call.

OP don't take too long to talk to them. At some point they will report you to ChexSystems which will impact you opening bank accounts in the future. And to answer your question, they could call you 100 times and it wouldn't be harassment. Not even close. Pulling the harassment card is so trite.

I totally did not believe OP either. She either made this up because she's a bored teenage boy on school break, or she's bank manager getting his jollies off of how fearful people are becoming reading and responding to these posts.

We're on to you OP!

However it probably does not cross the line into harassment.

Deal with it whenever you feel up to it. And when your kids are sleeping, switch off the phone.

Your attitude is what's wrong with this country today!

Hmm, I'm European. I should just hoof it back, right?

No need to be rude. When OP decides to get her act together, and sometimes when one is having a bad day, that can be hard to do, she will make the necessary arrangements. In the meantime, she can try to minimize the telephonic annoyances.

The do not call registry does not protect you from calls if you have a business relationship with the company. And a bank account is definitely a business relationship.
