I was going to say something similar and I’m not a law prof.

Harvard!

But that’s me, a stranger on the internet. Has your son visited both, OP? Which school did he connect with more (they do have differences, especially the open curriculum at Brown).

Go with fit, I wouldn’t stress about the A cap - that could change after one year.

I thought they were planning to pilot it for 3 years, if I recall reading it somewhere. So will end by 2030 when OP's son graduates.

Boston is a fun place for college.

Is this fake?

Why are you on this forum at all if not interested in strangers' opinions about college-related topics?

The fact that the Harvard waitlist is moving now suggests to me that other students are backing out after the ban.

Harvard. Don't over think this.

Op is a troll. Harvard is not currently extending wait list offers and those they extended two weeks go have expired.

Yes it is indeed fake.

Op is obviously the same troll that started the thread about Harvard’s yield and the grading change.

You think Harvard is contacting people about the waitlist over Memorial Day weekend? Stupidity level high here these days.

Harvard… for the name alone.

Harvard for, among other things, option value.

My DS started Harvard last fall intending to concentrating government and go to law school. By the end of the fall semester, he had decided that he wants to focus on applied math/economics and pursue finance post graduation. He’s working at hedge fund in Boston this summer started years ago by a Harvard alumnus. Harvard is a great place to be for kids interested in finance (Brown is a great place too of course, but not the same).

The broader point is that regardless of what your child wants to do (and this can evolve), Harvard is going to provide a solid platform.

OP said “recently.” Could have been a week or more ago.

If he wants to go international at any point in his career then Harvard. Brown just doesn’t carry the same weight abroad

I honestly have never understood what makes Harvard so great other than it’s the oldest college in the US. My parents were both professors (humanities and science) and taught at non ivys but were just as accomplished in terms of grants, publishing than their Harvard peers who tended conservative (conservative not politically but mainstream not questioning which is what you want in academia - true curiosity and willingness to push the current understanding on issues).

My kiddos are at top 10 schools and I counseled them away from applying to Harvard.

I’d choose Brown in a heartbeat. Love the open curriculum and commitment to undergraduates.

So much more likely that op is a troll.
