Why is everyone at SR leaving?

As for Catherine, the crying needs to stop. It does little in the way of character building among students. Worse, it creates awkward moments that make students uncomfortable.

I’m fascinated by this. What does she cry about?

Per my SR middle schooler, she cries about “everything.”

How long has the HOS been there? Changing anytime soon?

It's not!

They were put off by the MAGA parents.

Oh that’s no good. What made it so bad? And why don’t they just leave things alone with the schedule? My DD is not happy about it and I have apprehensions.

Malcolm’s leaving? That’s a massive loss.

He’s not. The assistant principal is.

What about the schedule is changing?

As someone who was in attendance, I left with less confidence in the school leadership. Imagine sending your kid to a Catholic school that has where your daughter could take Confirmation classes, only for the new MS principal to not even know where those classes are going to be in the new schedule? It says a lot that the HOS wasn’t there at the meeting to support or back up this schedule. DD misses the previous principal and her warmth in that division. When she first stated her feelings about the change, I said to give things a chance. After that meeting, I understood DD completely. It just felt like “we just took your money, so here’s a slap in the face”. Her responses were cold, robotic, and her demeanor was unprofessional and she was so defensive because this schedule wasn’t even researched. The HOS isn’t interested in listening to our families and why we chose SR but rest assured, we will be spammed with solicitations about fundraising and that car raffle to raise money for her school.

45 min classes, less study halls, no 8th grade confirmation classes. It’s bad when the students and faculty BOTH agree about what a terrible change it is. A lot of families feel blindsided by this because we got an email on April 30 with no clarity about what was changing. I wasn’t at the meeting but heard it went off the rails for over two hours.

What do you mean when you say no one is listening. Are you emailing the head, assistant head, and board and not getting any response? If no one is listening why stay at the school? If all these changes are happening the way they are with no parent involvement, right before binding date, it seems intentional. Clearly, the school isn’t taking family concerns seriously.

Sounds like this was a recent meeting so families are trying to understand what it means for their DDs. If no one is listening to concerns, families will start looking elsewhere in the fall for the next academic year. There are always a number of students who leave after MS but if people are leaving en masse, that might get someone’s attention. I say *might* because there has been such a high demand for HS spots that they are unlikely to feel the “pain” of families going elsewhere for HS—particularly if the new families coming in have deep pockets and rockstar lacrosse players.

+1 This is the reality now with all private schools. Not just SR. It doesn’t make it right but demand for private high schools is so high and schools won’t and don’t need to make any changes if they don’t feel it in their pockets.

They are also accepting way more girls now that wouldn’t have typically gotten in. They now have many more girls with learning needs and not enough support. It’s truly a mess and going to be for years to come. Things are getting way worse there not any better. I guarantee you’re going to see college retention change in the next four or five years that the girls will no longer be getting into the schools they once were. I are in middle school now and looking to change for high school.
