It's not! |
Was the meeting about the new MS schedule that bad?? And why on earth are they changing it? |
| The investment in academic faculty isn't there. In the US, significant faculty are out of their depth in the subjects they are teaching. The over emphasis on athletics (and I have daughters who are/were athletes) is correct. But it is through athletics that the US gets Ivy admissions -- not academics. The crying during every speech by the HoS is a well worn joke among the students. SR has the resources to do better, it just isn't putting those resources into the right places. I hope it gets back on track. |

| SR doesn't pay their teachers enough while also treating them poorly. |
| I like the HOS and other admins. Some of the teachers in the US take themselves way too seriously and assign boatloads of performative, rather than meaningful, homework. At least one teacher is flat out rude and dismissive to the girls. Sometimes its good for dynamics to get shaken up. |
| The meeting w the ms head was that bad. |
| On paper I always thought the MS head seemed underwhelming. I’m surprised SR couldn’t get anyone better. So maybe pay is the issue. |
| Interesting that no one is reflexively defending the administration here, unlike the Holton thread. The SR administration must not know about this board. |

We got in but went elsewhere...The school admin needs to rethink their priorities.

I agree. I have worked more than 15 years at MCPS and I make about 115k per year. Whenever I look at private school jobs, I cringe because I would take a 20k-35k pay cut. There's also more duties and stuff at private schools it seems like. For what people pay to have their kids go to these schools, teacher pay should be way higher. |

My DD attends the middle school. The principal’s bedside manner could benefit from some coaching. I’m willing to give her the benefit of the doubt, hoping she adapts to the school’s culture.
As for Catherine, the crying needs to stop. It does little in the way of character building among students. Worse, it creates awkward moments that make students uncomfortable. |

Or everyone unanimously agrees that the HOS is terrible. |
