neither is true anymore after the rate hikes |
It’s $15 if you book further in advance. For example, starting on Monday. Not sure if the lack of discount is because of the holiday weekend or because they want you to book 4-5 days in advance for the discount. |
|
They also added reserved parking to the daily lot at IAD. So there is valet, reserved, and everything else. It's like Disney World. The last two weeks I've had to park so far away the lanes dont even have numbers. Probably better off parking in Garage 2. First world problems but everything here is just so hard and expensive.
Have also never gotten a discount for advanced reservation in economy. |
| Yeah doing this right after adding “premium” parking is just extra annoying |
|
Metro goes to IAD now. I’m heading there in am and spouse is dropping me off at the metro that is 8 minutes from our house.
Easy, no traffic to deal with. If on vacation as a family, just uber to closest metro if you live near one. |
It’s called inflation. To most of us on DCUM it’s a non issue. K shaped economy. |
| You can often park at area hotels and catch the hotel shuttle for much less |
| Was there a week ago and again yesterday. Garage 2 seemed close to full from what I could observe both times. I guess the market will bear the increase, unfortunately. |
don't think that applies here |
There are substitutes that people can switch to, including private parking. Of course it's not a perfect market, but it's not a complete monopoly either. There is an upper limit at which point no one would pay the proposed price - only question is how much. |
Time stuck in traffic is also money. |
From downtown DC metro is a great option. From Maryland it’s not so great. |
Metro is a few bucks and most times faster than driving not only because of the traffic but also because it takes you right to terminal. No need to park car, hop on shuttle to terminal which is another 15-20 minutes on top of your trip. |
not needed for terminal/g1/most of g2. it's for econ lots. |
Looks like many hotel.options for 8-10 a day. That is what we will do. |
