| All the MV waitlisted kids were offered spots. |
What does this even mean? |
| I am guessing the person above means at DCI but it definitely required some background knowledge to make that guess. |
| Yes all the MV waitlisted kids were offered spots at DCI. |
Congrats to all those families. Nice that it happened so fast so they could avoid a summer of torment. |
Former MV family now at DCI. That is fantastic! So fast too, just after enrollment deadline and so happy for all the families!! Congrats and I hope your kids will love DCI like mine. I predict that all feeder kids, not just MV, will get into DCI by June when next waitlist data comes out. August the latest but my bets are June. |
| Wait, is that true? There were over 20 students on the MV waitlists for DCI |
Looks like it and not surprised. DCI looks out for their feeder kids and they get preference and maybe school made some size adjustments who knows. But great for the feeder schools and sets a precedent for future classes that basically DCI is pretty much a guarantee. |
| That’s great |
| PK3 moved one slot on May 1 and nothing since. Losing my mind. |
|
Feels like there's much more DCUM angst about the waitlists this year than there has been the past few years. Surprising, since the PK3 population is going down and more slots are available. Seemed like there was more angst on DCUM like 5-10+ years ago and then there was a lull. An angst-lull. But we're back!
|
| As one of the purveyors of the angst, I suspect that we're actually all just terribly anxious about the state of the world and various other things outside of our control. PK 3 waitlists seems like a more manageable place to put that than e.g. what corrupt crony capitalist bulls**t is our President going to trade our children's future for today... |
I actually don’t think this is a good thing. Where are these extra kids going? Larger class sizes? Teaching is already pretty hit or miss and classroom management at the middle school level isn’t great. The younger grades at our feeder are pretty huge so it’s not realistic to keep adding kids. People signed up understanding that DCI wasn’t a guarantee. |
I’ve got a middle schooler at DCI and surprisingly his classes are on the smaller side like 15-18 kids. I think it depends on the class and level since DCI tracks. No major classroom management issues that our kid has had but middle school anywhere is hard with puberty and hormones. Probably hardest stage. DS did have a sub for a bit because teacher was out for health reasons. No one knows if they increased their numbers a bit or it could just be that some feeder kids decided to go elsewhere or move. But I don’t have a problem if they did add 40 kids or whatever in middle school |
