| If all the FCPS HS counselors have a similar student course load, all the counselors had the same weather issues, and all the counselors have the same deadlines.....why are Westfield counselors so behind? Its the only school that's been named here as still not meeting with students. Is their principal terrible? |
| Mine met with her counselor (not Westfield) maybe 3 weeks ago. We have ben back and forth with the counselor and two of the teachers on the right classes for next year. There is no way we could have had this communication if they had waited until this week to meet. |
| We talked to our DS about a four year plan based on what he has said he wants to do and classes that he has enjoyed in MS and outside activities. DH printed off the course descriptions and gave them to our DS who was looking at them this morning. He is supposed to meet with a Counselor this week and we want him to be able to answer questions and have an idea about what classes to ask about. |
What school? |
Carson to Skyview. He did meet with the Counselor to pick classes for SLHS a while back but his schedule has to change since there are different offerings between an IB and AP school, I know the history classes are different. There could be different electives and language offerings as well. So a different scenario because he is 8th grade. |

Mine did, maybe 2 weeks ago. I also thought it was late.
This week? Damn. |
| Maybe 3 weeks ago? Definitely mid-Feb. |
|
Yes, several weeks ago.
OP, I would ask school to change your family to a different counselor. This one is going to drop the ball and make mistakes over and over again. |
| Mine did on Thursday of last week. The counselors had a schedule and it wasn't my daughter's choice when they met. It was actually at a time when she missing a timed assessment in class, which is annoying (an essay, not a test, and they have more than one day to complete, but still annoying) |

My freshman met with his counselor several weeks ago.
Whats the issue at Westfield? |
you have no idea |
It's always the bare minimum at Westfield and the last possible minute. My freshman still has not met with a counselor about classes. She said she "thinks" tomorrow. |
| How can you wait to the last minute when the counselors have no control over the deadline/course selection "closing"? What if a kid is out sick the rest of the week? He just...gets no classes chosen? |
Sounds like the Westfield counselors don't really give a crap. My freshman met with his counselor weeks ago. |
| My Westfield freshman has not met with her counselor yet. I have literally heard nothing and she doesn't even know who her counselor is. |
