Luxury accommodations with shared bathrooms .. why?

Works if you know and accept what you’re getting into. We stayed at a lovely renovated place in Scandinavia. Beautiful common rooms, dining room, solarium and garden spaces. Sink in private room, individual shower stalls and toilet stalls shared in hall. All nicely appointed but, you still had to leave your room. Maybe around $300/night with excellent breakfast. It was what it was.
