I’m curious about the interest in these. Why stay at a hotel that’s renovated, or modern and new but with a shared bathroom situation?
Faraway Nantucket is an example. |
| Have no idea what you're talking about OP. These seem like very specific, named rooms, so I'd imagine you book them with kids and treat them like suites? I doubt anyone would share with a stranger. https://www.farawayhotels.com/nantucket/rooms |
Many have shared bathroom listed: https://be.synxis.com/?_gl=1*1d0fo79*_gcl_au*MTA2NzE1NTExLjE3NzE5NDY0MzM.*_ga*OTcxNTYyMzgxLjE3NzE5NDY0MzM.*_ga_9CJD1ELWLN*czE3NzE5NDY0MzIkbzEkZzAkdDE3NzE5NDY0MzIkajYwJGwwJGgw&adult=1&arrive=2026-04-01&chain=33607&child=0¤cy=USD&depart=2026-04-02&hotel=49281&level=hotel&locale=en-US&productcurrency=USD&rooms=1 |

| I would never do that. |
| Its the cheapest room at a small B&B, that is absolutely standard. |
| It seems specific to that property. Nantucket doesn't tons of hotels, so you get what you get. It's an old house, and I guess the owners are trying to make the most of the bedroom-to-bathroom ratio because they can. |
| That’s not luxury. I don’t are how nice the bedroom is. I don’t even want to share at home! |
| If it's a B&B situation, that's usual. Otherwise, I've never seen any shared bath situation for otherwise comfortable accommodations. |

Same. It would not be a vacation for me if I had to share a bathroom with people outside of my travel companions. |
| I find it super annoying. My BIL rented a large "luxury" house in palm springs for his bday and it was like 10 or 12 bedrooms but several had shared bathrooms. DH and I had a jack and jill bathroom with a single male friend. It was situated so the toilet and shower were behind an additional door, the jack/jill opened into the sink area. But still, these places are going for like $10k a night and you have to share a bathroom? Anyways, yeah it's a thing. |
| "Priced accordingly" |
| We did this on block island to save money. It’s fine but it’s not luxury by any means. |
