It's actually a good way to assess school spirit when you visit.
And for those saying not so much on urban campuses, just fyi, Pitt students wear Pitt gear all the time. It helps visually define the campus, really. |
| They do at Middlebury and it makes me happy to see so much school spirit. Definitely didn’t feel cool to do that at my school in the 90s. |
| Kids at IU wear IU gear all the time. |
| This was true of all I visited except Vanderbilt. Looking like a Polo catalogue. Although they wore some to games |
| They do at at BC and HC |
| That was the first comment my kid said to me about her Penn State tour with her dad--EVERYONE is wearing Penn State shirts. |
| OP, your kids, while probably lovely and kind souls, have no earthy idea what they are talking about when it comes to what college kids are wearing on campus. |
| I work at UMD and there’s tons of UMD gear worn on campus. |
| I work at both GW and Georgetown. I see kids in branded gear all the time, sweatshirts especially. |
| I work on a college campus and it is completely normal to wear the college sweatshirt. Heck I occasionally see students wearing sweatshirts from other colleges. |
| Any suggestions on cheap and best places to get college merchandise besides Amazon? |
Interesting because mine is at a NESCAC and her bff is at a different NESCAC. At both schools the majority of the kids are in college gear everyday. |
|
Except at NESCAC schools they don’t attend varsity games on campus. Attendance at these schools is worse than a midsize high school.

I was surprised at how many were wearing college gear from other colleges too |
At Michigan everyone wears gear. I’ve noticed at UCLA too. |
