Your definition of average is unique. |
Bullshit. So many athletes and donor kids are doing Econ. I bet they have a āCalculus for Econā class. |
This is consistent with my experience with the Top 30 my DS got admitted to last year. I called during the second semester and got a similar response. But Top 20s and Top SLACs may be different. |
No the PP is completely right. Any upper level Econ classes (aka above Macro and Micro principles) require calc. |
I think youāre mixing up Finance bros and majoring in Econ. |
This is not true! Have you ever looked at their curriculum? |
|
I do not think it will be a problem...but I recommend she retakes the class in college to fill in any gaps. My son did this for engineering and was so glad he did. Learned different things in college and had a great foundation to go forward

Econ is the number one major for fin bros. |
Doesnāt change the fact that itās a tough major, at least at any halfway decent school. |
|
lol to the people saying Econ is easy.
Go take an econometrics class. Real Econ requires not only calculus, but linear algebra, real analysis, etc. |
|
I think that one still can do econ major with minimal calculus. But thereāre just classes you canāt take! Also, many competitive jobs for econ major require strong analytical skills.
At the Ph.D. level, econ is practically an applied math subject with economic intuition. |
One can make it tough by taking the courses on the mathy side. One (athletes and donor kids) can make it easy by taking the standard route. In general itās not a ātoughā major. OP should do just fine. |
You donāt need econmetrics for graduating with an Econ major. |
Not true. I would assume Michiganās requirements are standard: https://lsa.umich.edu/lsa/academics/majors-minors/economics-major.html |
You are an idiot! 251 OR 452 OR 454. The standard route is 251. Requires little calculus. |
