This. No excuses. |
+1. Sounds like an overzealous investigator. Keep your nose clean and don't sweat it. It is possible that you could be asked about it in the future. I think and explanation that it was a very stressful time, it was a stupid mistake, and upon discovery you paid and have paid all penalties as well. Keep those records. People make mistakes. The important thing on a background check is that you aren't making them repeatedly or trying to hide them/ |
Why are you guys acting like the taxes weren’t filed and paid as soon as discovered. |
|
Is this really a big deal? When I met DH he was self employed and NEVER paid his taxes on time. I think the year we met he was like two years behind.
I feel like everyone here is acting super dramatic about it. |
Seriously. I had a few years of extensions filed and then didn’t file taxes. Had my reasons, fixed it all paid everything with interest. It was awful and I was so ashamed and it cause a lot of issues in my background check but everything worked out. It happens and it’s serious but it’s not the end of the world. No need to shame anyone. |
No!!!!!!11 It doesn't "happen"!!!!! I don't believe you that you forgot your extensions!!!! /s |
When integrity and trust are factors considered for employment, yes it’s a big deal. |
But it was one unfiled tax return out of five (or at least on mine it asked for the last five years) and it was immediately rectified before the investigation even began. |
As someone else said, it's a big deal to the IRS. She did pay but not paying isn't the issue; not filing at all is a legit crime. Still, one missed tax return where it's not habitual...it does seem a bit dramatic. I guess zealous investigator as another poster proposed. |
| NO ONE forgets to file taxes. UNLESS THEY WANT TO! |
|
You’ll be fine
IRS fired a bunch of tax cheats then hired them all back |
I think you have 3 years to file before it’s an issue. Don’t quote me |
| taxes pay your own salary moron |
No it is not. Someone’s background check came back with domestic violence and they arrested him on the job |
No. They didn’t say that. Actually they implied the opposite |
