It came out just ok, I used 1/2 of the vanilla cake mix and 2 boxes of Jiffy bc I think the full cake mix would have been way too much. But my mother-in-law showed up with cornbread made with the Krusteaz mix that someone else suggested, and it was better than what I made with the Jiffy/cake mix (it was definitely sweeter than the Jiffy mix). |
| Just add a can of creamed corn to it and an extra box of mix. |

Simply Homemade is the best boxed cornbread mix. Plenty sweet but the first ingredient is still cornmeal.
I don’t understand using a cake mix. All boxed cornbread mixes are very sweet already. |
| Both are gross and I cannot imagine the disgusting bake that would result. Ugh. |
Thanks for reporting back. I really hate those Krusteaz mixes in general and they dominate supermarket choices (those and the disgusting Kodiak ones). I tend to do all from scratch but nice to hear of backup mixes that are tried and true. |

These are savory, not sweet, and I haven’t made them, so I have no idea how they actually turn out, but here are four cornbread variations based on box mixes that I’ve seen on Youtube.
Cheese Whiz Ranch Dressing Sloppy Joe Enchilada Sauce |
| The Trader Joe’s mix is good. |
It's not my house, and it's too far to make at home and bring it. I just accept it's a meal where I don't eat much. |
| Real cornbread is just as easy to make, 100 times better tasting, 100 times better for you, and 100 times cheaper. Don't use self rising cornmeal. Do a 50/50 mix with flour and halve the sugar in any recipe calling for it. Trust me, you'll never go back. |
| Trader Joe's cornbread mix is the best! |

Jiffy mix is closest to home cooking restaurants in Florida in the 60s.
