bike lanes not plowed

+1. They should be last— bike lanes affect the smallest number of people. Focus on sidewalks, plus roads/above ground metro tracks.

Sidewalks and crosswalks haven’t been cleared. Bike lanes haven’t been cleared. Many residential streets are borderline impassable. And DDOT is telling pedestrians to stay off the streets as if there is any other place to walk.

The DC mayor is focused on handing over billions of dollars of public resources to an Epstein-cavorting billionaire who has just bought the most expensive home in DC. Her transportation director is solely focused on the convenience of commuters from MD and VA. Neither person gives the slightest damn about DC residents.

Yeah, I'm done with Muriel Bowser and the sellouts that keep fleecing us. Can we just have someone genuine as mayor??

No because you’re apparently only allowed to run for your office if: (a) you haven’t lived in DC your entire life; (b) aren’t interested in siphoning off public resources for the benefit of yourself, your friends and family, and/or extremely rich people; and/or (c) taking purely performative political positions to mimic a semblance of concern for those who are less fortunate than yourself, even if said positions are very dumb.

Let’s try that again:

Why? I'm going places.

You shouldn't be out in a car in this weather. You all keep getting stuck all over the place.

It's reckless to ride a bike in these conditions. But you be you.

Get a bike. Super warm with a nice jacket and my legs pumping.

Exhibit A why bike lanes will never take off the way the bike lobby wants them too. They are little more than a vanity project for the bike bros and not terribly practical IRL. You gotta go by car, metro or bus as God intended.

I’m sorry poor child. Adults needs clear roads to get to work.

Maybe if bike lanes didn’t have little white poles and concrete dividers from the street, it’d be easy to plow. Or you could make the homeowners and business owners alongside bike trails clear them like a sidewalk—of course no sane homeowner would ever support bike lanes after shoveling even more snow.

DMV has inflexible infrastructure that creates huge bottlenecks. Parklets, dining areas, bike racks take up too much road space.

Amen. We must suffer for an entitled superminority who thinks the world should bend to meet their needs. Take public transportation.
