Outside of a few routes, DC doesn't really plow bike lanes, even in much more manageable conditions. Apparently the "billions" spent on bikes that one poster likes to harp on never made it to appropriately sized plows.

For people that think its the cold that prevents people from cycling, I give you:

Get snow tires

I really want studded bike tires. But I'm not sure I can handle a 6 foot jump off the snow ramps that pile up where the plows leave them. Just not for these bones.

We could also save a lot from the city budget for plowing if drivers got studded tires too. Good idea!

I mean some roads and crosswalks have not been plowed yet. Bike lanes will be last.

If at all.

With everyone driving SUVs these days, I'm actually surprised we even plow. Isn't that what people got Range Rovers for?

I think I actually see a negative correlation there. The fancier AWD cars get stuck more than the beater sedan driven by construction workers.

Go use the ones on Old Georgetown Road. State highways had people shoveling them out by hand. Nevermind that the sidewalks aren’t cleared and that travel lanes suddenly end on major roadways. At least these bike lanes are cleared

uh, well, a whole lot of roads aren't plowed either. your best bet is to wait for the sun to do its work.

And the beater sedans are driven by construction workers from Latin America, who’ve been driving in tropical snowstorms their entire adult lives before coming here.

Tropical snow makes the best driving skills. Everyone knows this. That’s why the Hondurans dominate world rally cup racing.

Right. Priorities.

Cyclists are literally the most important people in our society today. Truly a gilded class.

Pedestrians can't even cross streets without climbing snowbanks.
Oh yes bikes are more important I guess?

The giant snow mounds that pedestrians face are the same ones bicyclists face. Same boat
