Owner here 👋
- beauty is the eye of the beholder 😆 the right person will love it as we did! We searched for 2 years for a house on this street - modern + walk to Del Ray + George Mason Elementary + close to Shirlington. No lights to DC! - bamboo is the neighbors and FULLY controlled. He did battle with it on three sides of his house - we left this small patch for privacy and it’s tightly managed - in 2024 we went under contract on a too expensive house. When we couldn’t sell quickly we pulled the deal and stayed put until we found our next home - house had structural work under last owner with a bad contractor. We just put in $40K to fix it for good and get a 20 year warranty for the next owner. We raised two kids here and are sad to leave, but it’s ready for the next family to enjoy! |
Pretty cool to see an owner respond. I like that street and neighborhood. It’s totally fine if you don’t want to answer, especially in a public forum, but if you’re sad to leave, why leave? |
| Moved to a townhouse in Potomac Yard - less yard, even more walkable, and school district not relevant anymore. |
Will miss the incredible views, natural light, awesome neighbors, and super easy parking! Yard was amazing when kids were small (was a hillside of mulch when we bought, had it terraced and turfed) but they grew up and we have whatever the opposite of a green thumb is (red thumb?). |

Nice, thanks for responding and good luck with the sale. I think it will be popular at the price you’ve listed it at.
It’s a nice neighborhood, and good to see a non-cookie cutter house. |
Sorry but not having a driveway or garage is NOT super easy parking. It's a pain getting small kids in and out of the car. Plus bringing in groceries. |
+1. The neighborhood is extremely nice, walkable to Del Ray, and districted for George Mason which is one of the most desirable grade schools. I'm convinced there are 2 or 3 regulars that got priced out of the area and just troll these forums. |
Driveways are nice and add value, but street parking on this type of residential side street wouldn’t be a pain. This isn’t a location where you’d be battling for spots, you park right outside your house. It would be like a 20 foot walk to the front door, not that much more of a distance than a driveway would be. Only time it would be a pain would be in snow like this. |
| What effect does a driveway have on the ease or burden of getting kids in a car??? |
I’d say a small driveway would be more coveted down the hill in Del Ray a block from Mt Vernon Ave, because during busy times you could arrive home and there’s not a free space immediately in front of your house. But up the hill in the neighborhood where this house is, which is Monticello Park/Beverley Hills area, you’re always able to park in front of your house so it doesn’t really matter all that much. |
+1. Jen Walker knows what she is doing with price and staging, especially in that area. Hope the weather doesn't keep potential buyers away this weekend. |
Love it but it is a bit over my budget. |
| It's so ugly. Painting brick white is criminal. All the rooms would make me feel like I was a hamster living in a box. Yes, non-institutional white paint would solve a lot of that, but some buyers aren't interested in having to use their imaginations. |
| Well, it went under contract on Tuesday so clearly there was interest. My guess is it sells for $1.16 |
I also love seeing an owner respond. I like MCM, and liked the house. My takeaways other than the bamboo (with no knowledge of the neighborhood) was that one of the backyard trees seemed poised to fall on the house, and the perfectly fine looking bathroom photos had shower curtains hiding the tubs and/or showers. |
