There are plenty of NoVa families who can afford that. The question is if it has a long waitlist or people can join after their kid has been accepted. If you live in Mclean, Great Falls, No. Arl, etc, there is a good chance you or a neighbor wouldn't have a problem paying that.

DP. Historically, the NoVa families haven’t really been inner circle at UVA. How very nouveau riche to think you can buy your kid some social cachet by joining Farmington.

They're not this year either. The Farmington crowd is not NOVA kids at all.

Yeah, I didn’t think so.

I know families who can use it through reciprocity from their home club.

It's where George Hugely was all day before he murdered Yardley Love. Says it all.

False. He was at the very public and inexpensive Wintergreen. And it’s Yeardley, not Yardley. Check yourself next time. https://www.espn.com/college-sports/story/_/id/7578803/virginia-cavaliers-lacrosse-trial-friend-says-george-huguely-returned-blank-stare

Jesus Christ. It doesn't say anything at all. If Ted Bundy drove a certain model of car, should that reflect on everyone who happens to drive that model?

It’s also wrong. That’s was Wintergreen. And parents don’t just sign up when their kids are accepted. It’s a huge financial commitment, resident or non-resident and takes a long time to be voted on. Reciprocity is discouraged because Farmington doesn’t like to do it and does t like making the return calls to get me reciprocity rights elsewhere. It’s not that kind of club.

Well this is a new one and I have two kids who graduated from there, my brother and niece. I have never ever heard of this club or people being involved and all four relatives were in the Greek systems

I’ve never heard of this either and I’ve been a member of Farmington for four years. I’ve never seen a group of any students there nor would I know why they would want to
Be there. It’s an older crowd I’m a young member in my late 60s.

But I was curious so called today. No, UVA students cannot join. They can’t rent a
unless a club member sets it up. But, then, the guest must comply with the dress and conduct code. I don’t know why a student would want to do that because the rooms are rather simple 50s style country room. I’ve stayed in one - they are not luxurious and the walks are paper thin.

I asked my son who went to UVA about this and he said he’s only seen one student there and never knew if any who went there when he was a student. He doesn’t know why they would want to go there, too, “because main campus is much more fun”. It’s a very quiet place. You can’t buy anything without a club number and they almost always know the members well enough to address them by name so you can’t mess around at the bar.

I think some silly sorority girl is trying to brag on something, although not sure what.

What? This is utter nonsense.

-parent of a McIntire student

I'm a first year parent and there are several clubs that limited their first year positions to this crowd. I know these kids.

You mean you are are the parent of a FRESHMAN...But but but Mr. Jefferson said he doesn't like those terms because a learning journey is throughout one's whole life...

This is a PUBLIC SCHOOL we are talking about...oh, and it's a CAMPUS...

Sound like a bunch of douches.

No thanks.

Has it always been this way or is this class particularly so?
This all came up during Greek rush because most of the top houses are entirely Farmington member kids.

So much false information here. Your kid is making up a reason for not getting the house she wanted.

DP. For the record, you sound like the crazy one here.

Internet says: UVA student-dependents of National members may join the Farmington National Dependent Child Program for $750 bi-annually, allowing independent, unaccompanied club access.

That’s Farmington Connecticut, not VA. Note the area code

My son is a first year and has been taken there for dinner twice this year, with two different kids. The kids picked up the tab for the group. They weren’t from Virginia

I know several out of state parents who stay there when visiting their kids. I assume it’s through club reciprocity.

This thread is so fascinating. So much distance from the truth. Who is hiding what here?
