2026 Oscar nominations

I used to see every movie and watch the Oscars every year, and it’s amazing how in the dark I am about these movies/actors.

One act of wicked was enough. Better to watch a play of it.

SO SICK of Wicked and its actors. Go away!

I feel validated Benazir I thought they were so creepy and inauthentic during the pressers, and I guess many others felt that way too

I guess we won’t be mourning the wicked sequel after all.

I barely see them. Maybe adjust your social media algorithms?

Are you joking? Ariana Grande and Cynthia Erivo show up everywhere.

For the first movie, yes. Not this one.

DH and I are making our way through the list of nominations for best picture. We watched F1 last night and I was pleasantly surprised that I actually enjoyed it. I always thought racing was just driving fast. I had no idea there was strategy involved!
We also watched Begonia. It was good until the end. Stupid ending.

Sorry, I beg to differ. They're all over the place, especially Ariana Grande. Enough, already.

I've seen her at a few events where she was nominated?

I loved how dark the ending was. Saved the movie for me.

Agree. There was not one likable character in the movie. It was well acted and authentic 1950s era scenery - but the movie had no heart.

The only big surprise is Sentimental Value doing so well, since it was hit or miss in early award nominations. The "snubs" are not really snubs, since they also had been hit or miss prior (Paul Mescal, Chase Infiniti et al). Though I would have picked Jesse Plemmons over Benicio del Toro.

Critics seem to agree that One Battle After Another is pretty much a lock for Best Picture and Best Director, and Teyana Taylor for supporting actress. I'd also pick Sean Penn for supporting, but that one is a little more open.

Would love to see Wagner Moura win Best Actor, think he has a shot.

Surprised to see that F1 got a BP nom. Really? Other than the sharp racing scenes, found that movie trite and forgettable.

Seems the award ceremony could be quite boring.

We really enjoyed Sentimental Value …

I knew it was heading that way because it was a Twilight Zone-type twist. Not that clever at all and the movie was really made by: the fantastic musical score, the few artsy "shocking" shots at the end. Remove those and it was tv quality and not original.
