From Apple TV, The Completely Made-Up Adventures of Dick Turpin
I’ve only watched a couple of episodes but laughed a lot - I tend to watch cerebral heavy drama stuff and am trying to consume more humorous stuff, but for me it has to be very clever humor and this show is. 84% fresh on Rotten Tomatoes, too |
DP. Dick Turpin is played by Noel from the Great British Bakeoff. Noel seems to have a flaky relationship to his projects, so he kind of left this one hanging, but there's enough to make it seem wrapped up. |
I’ve watched Schitt’s creek twice. Adore it and am sure I’ll see it a few more times. |
Is it violent?! |
A little. It's more just crass. |

Hart of Dixie
Northern Exposure (don’t know how well it’s held up, I haven’t watched it since it originally aired, but I think it’s available on Prime now) MASH These lean more dramatic, but have some humor too: West Wing Being Erica Crash Landing on You (if you don’t mind subtitles) |
Loved Being Erica |
Thank you, this is new to me! Episodes are short and hilarious! |
Amazingly funny show Also: Veep Happy Endings Schitt's Creek Arrested Development |
This show was way better than it needed to be. It's definitely a high-end comedy. So, so good. Something lighter is Working Moms. |
Helen Tudor Fisk (did you say tuna fish?) is one of my favorite characters ever. Just be aware, OP, that people will think you're crazy when you bark out a laugh every few minutes. |
I did not like this, and I love Jon Hamm and Amanda Peet. It was watchable though, and may be good for a captive audience, I just found it very underwhelming. |
I'm a fan of shows you can wrap up during your travels, so for one-season options (none of which are comedies, but none of which are too heavy): Third Body Problem Inventing Anna The Dropout The Queen's Fambit Firefly My So-Called Life Freaks and Geeks Station Eleven (I have more but I'd describe them all as kind of heavy, i.e. Chernobyl) |
| If you can find The Adventures of Briscoe County, Jr. I'd recommend that! |
| If you haven't watched Big Little Lies, that's two seasons but you could fly through it. Some violence but nothing too embarrassing that I can remember and very engrossing. |
