DC Deferred at WUSTL - Move on?

Without higher test scores it’s unclear how strong of a student your kid is. Does the public school inflate grades? Top 10% of the class or not?

Without national awards, your kid is a borderline candidate. Maybe they are looking for first semester grades?

See how you can strengthen app. Maybe hire professional help for RD? A kid with those scores or TO must truly stand out for T25.

Move on if the ED2 is a school they’d be happy with and would otherwise most certainly not get into.

The SAT score is likely going to be a liability through the RD round.

Can’t be premed, business or engineering. No psych or bio either. All are over-subscribed.

Hospital internship hurts her chances?

Yes. Agree.

What’s the ED2 option? Consider test optional if it’s viable at that school (Midd; Tufts; Vandy)

Premed at WashU is a dime a dozen.
College admissions is all about being different/standing out.

What other stuff does this kid have?

WUSTL typically "shapes" the class with private full pay from their deferred ED.

I thought WUSTL was need-blind? Wouldn’t that mean they aren’t taking finances into account when making their admissions decisions?

They want to be need blind, but Trump is squeezing them hard.

This requires deferrals stay viable, meaning the deferrals have to double down on WUSTL, cannot ED2 another school, stay as RD applicants for the enormous amount of uncertainty.

Do they give any hint to the poor full pay souls so they do not use ED2? It's a long wait from December to March ...

I wouldn’t submit to Midd or Vandy, but I’d submit to Tufts. Deferred at WUSTL likely to get in at Tufts.

Not guaranteed with 1470

Why can’t you love multiple schools. There are so many amazing schools out there

Of course it isn’t a guarantee. But 1470 is a much stronger score at Tufts than it is at WUSTL. Also Tufts is strongly encouraging people to submit scores if they are over 1300. With that that GPA and they many APs that is a very solid candidate for Tufts.

WTH are you talking about? Of course that’s outstanding.

I am certain OP’s kid is lovely, however these stats do not in fact _stand_out_ for this school. aka, “outstanding.”

This profile is not compelling for Vandy. Especially pre med.

What makes it a great school?
