Is anyone else meaningfully less happy living here since Trump 2.0 started?

Previously, there were 100 murders from January 1 to August 11.

For comparison, DC had 274 murders in 2023. How is it factually less safe?

But if crime was already trending down (and it was) it would be lower than 2023 NG or not.

It was trending below 2023, but after the NG the rate dropped by half. There is no way you can say with a straight face that it is less safer since the NG came if there are 25 murders in almost 4 months in a city that previously recorded 100 murders in 7 1/2 months. You can either say you don’t care or lie to yourself because you don’t want to concede a point that gives Trump a win, but you’d be factually incorrect.

This may sound callous but those murders didn't really affect me. My contracts being cancelled, the government shutdown, the DEI muzzle, my LEGAL employees getting snatched off the streets, that all really affects me.

Well at least you’re being honest.

Other than in your mind, how has Trump affected you? Honestly.

I hate trump, but he has no tangible impact on my life.

That's nice for you, PP, but I lost my job. So yeah, Trump/Musk has had a major impact on my life.

Oh, and those prices for electricity, groceries, eating out, just about anything are continuing to go up and up and up.

Trump's regime has definitely had a very negative direct impact on my life.

I lost my job to H1Bs. a none of the feds cared.

Apples and oranges.

Why should they have cared about you if you still don’t give a f?ck about them?

Ok and what is the long term solution? NG cannot live here, I know one who will stop being paid the wage difference (she earns more than the NG pay in her normal job) after six months and start losing money. I don't even know if other employers pay the six months of wage difference the way ours does.

For the record, I just wanted them to fix the prosecution/conviction/no papering issues. Unclear if they did that, but of they have improved those issues at USAO, I do give credit there.

I've cried probably every day since election day 2024.

My spouse was laid off due to tariffs causing financial issues at his private sector company and none of the MAGAs cared.

I long for the good old days of 2023.
Very unhappy and counting days until it’s over. Hoping it ends sooner than I think, so damage is lessened.
High prices, more expensive health care, investments tanking, damage done international relations, hard to travel, education costs increasing, so much more.
Worst hit is our healthcare and science research. This will hurt for many years to come.

+1

Hasn't impacted my life but I know he has impacted other lives in a negative way and that's why I pledge to pay more attention to what I'm voting for going forward. Hope the rest of you do the same.

Did you vote for Trump?

Same. How exactly someone can be intelligent and live in DC and not even notice how much crappier our local economy, mood, and reality are is completely beyond me.

I would say, "Must be nice" but really, I think it's pathetic to care so little about your community.

Maybe it’s a coincidence, but I was at a gathering and someone (a young teen) made blatant racist statements right out in the open, like it was totally normal. I’ve never heard anything like that before. I was unprepared with a response and keep thinking about what I should or could have said.

Men don’t use electricity or eat or need health care?

There is a reason why typical white males need so much DEI to help them compete, they kind of suck.

Just subjugate women, deport brown people, institutionalize racism, and tada, claim superiority. They are just sad
Little boys.

pretty much that. the DEI rollbacks have revealed that male enrollment is dropping colleges once administrators rescind the mediocre quota.

Men tend to use less healthcare and are conditioned for stoicism.

Men aren’t known for positive community building or caring about the wellbeing of others.

Every community meeting I've attended since the inauguration runs at about 95%/5% F/M ratio. One guy showed up at our neighborhood meeting on ICE. Nice guy, but that's it.
