yes there is, its called Statins. Only 30% of people experience side effects, most of those disappear after a few weeks and often only older patients (65+) struggle I've been on statins for 3 yrs and I have no side effects. I'm F and mid50s. |
6’0” and 150 pounds is not overweight |
Are you male? What is the nature of the chronic pain? Only asking because a young family member had plantar fasciitis in both feet at the same time (unusual, it's typically unilateral) and various other chronic pains in the knees and lower back. Was finally diagnosed with spinal arthritis. It's one of the few autoimmune diseases that are more common in men than women. In the majority of cases there is a predisposing genetic factor (HLA B27 positive, determined by a simple blood test), though not in the case of my family member. |
I mean, doctors are usually awful human beings, but the complaint in this thread is ridiculous. |
I wonder if "making these changes would improve your health" is interpreted the same thing as "your problems are all your fault and solely under your full control." They are not the same thing. |
Only doctors are paid at least triple what teachers make. Usually much more. As a person who has had multiple chronic health issues since age six (not "made up" ones with only clinical diagnoses), I can't tell you how many terrible doctors there are out there. I have a handful of good ones, but I'd say 75% are genuinely terrible. Since moving here, I had to shop three gastroenterologists who were even minimally competent before finding a decent one. The first two would not even look at my medical history before telling me I needed to do yoga and relax. |
That is pretty obvious from the OP, no? |
| OP there are genetic tests that can help you out. Ignore the negative posters. I had many of those issues ( yes the spondyloarthritis too) and it turned out to all be down to genetics leading to high rates of autoimmune conditions/immune dysregulation. I feel great now after getting actual answers and knowing what to avoid to help me stay healthy. Try a GOOD functional medicine doctor. |
+1, its taken me over 20 years and countless doctors, who all ignored it all to finally be getting some help as thank goodness one doctor took the time to look into it and get me to the right specialist who cared. They all said I was making it up, mental health, etc. when it was right there on my ct, blood and other test results. |
Or, the right specialist. I've had a bunch of genetic testing and am waiting for more results. It's worth doing as it helped diagnose me. |
I've had lots of side effects and can only tolerate a low dose. |
You have to find a competent doctor to actually treat you. I have to spend 2 hours a day on treatments... you make it sound simple. |
I'm angry I lost many years of my life in misery with many doctors who just ignored it all vs. trying to help when the evidence was right there. Many years and my kids childhoods. |
Quack, quack, quack. |

Genetics or no, you got the diagnoses, right? They're not going to cure your autism, HBP, etc with genetic treatment, and if any of you diagnoses were 100% caused by genes (without environmental factors) you would have had them anyway. And the environmental factors are not all that specific.
