Wrong. Flag day was declared a national holiday in 1949. It is not a federal holiday. (National holidays are "days of cultural significance, not legally mandated days off for everyone." Federal holidays legally require federal offices, post offices, and banks to close.)

What's your point? A national holiday is still a pretty important day to the country. The President has the authority to declare any day desired to be free admission. Perhaps he wanted to send a more patriotic message? There are numerous celebrations of Flag day. There's even a huge Marine Corps Memorial showing the raising of the flag over Iwo Jima.

Which is a huge FAKE!! That famous photograph from which the sculpture is taken was a FAKE!! Totally staged.

Totally staged the day after hundreds of Marines bled out on a random beach on a tiny island in the Pacific that was a key piece of real estate necessary to pin down a Japanese Imperial Navy/Army by putting a stranglehold on their mainland. Ask the Chinese, Filipinos, Aussies, Indians, and even Russians how important that flag being raised on that island was and then tell us it matters that it was staged a few hours after the main event. You pathetic loser racist 80 IQ idiot!

We should have a national holiday for Trump, as the most inspirational and influential president since Lincoln, he will certainly have a holiday established to recognize his place among the great American heroes.

There are no holidays based solely on race or gender, you POS.

It’s shocking that we have an openly racist president (let’s not forget his Somalia comments and his policy for white South Africans) and Congress is fine fine with it.

Disgusting.

There are some criticisms of Trump and the Trump Administration that are overblown but this certainly isn't one of them. Anyone suggesting that it makes sense for a sitting POTUS to have buildings named after themselves or as in this case, change Federal Holiday protocols in a manner that involves their own birthday??? How can anyone with an IQ over 70 try to defend this arrogance and narcissism?

By remembering that commemorating deceased former presidents has long been a thing. Maybe by Flag Day it might make sense.

Did you know that George Washington had numerous ships named named for him - when he was alive?

USS Washington (1775) was a schooner named Endeavor acquired by Gen. Washington in October 1775, renamed Washington, and re-rigged as a brigantine.
USS Washington (1776) was a row galley that operated in Narragansett Bay during the winter and spring of 1776.
USS Washington (1776) was one of 13 frigates authorized by the Continental Congress. She was launched in August 1776.
USS Washington (1776), a lateen-rigged two-masted galley, was built in the autumn of 1776.
USS George Washington (1798) was a 24-gun sloop-of-war commissioned in 1798.

Washington also owned slaves. Not sure you’d be ok with Trump doing that too…

And Trump showed himself to be a coward the one and only time he had the opportunity to stand tall and brave as Commander-in-Chief.

No comparison between GW amd Trump

Did you know that Washington wasn’t President until 1789 so he wasn’t in charge of naming all those after himself?

Hard no. Nobody in the US today should own slaves. Full stop.

Juneteenth National Independence Day?

It's "the longest running African-American holiday" source: Knight, Gladys L. (2011). "Juneteenth". Encyclopedia of African American Popular Culture. Greenwood. pp. 798–801
