Wrong. Flag day was declared a national holiday in 1949. It is not a federal holiday. (National holidays are "days of cultural significance, not legally mandated days off for everyone." Federal holidays legally require federal offices, post offices, and banks to close.)

What's your point? A national holiday is still a pretty important day to the country. The President has the authority to declare any day desired to be free admission. Perhaps he wanted to send a more patriotic message? There are numerous celebrations of Flag day. There's even a huge Marine Corps Memorial showing the raising of the flag over Iwo Jima.

Do you think that memorial of the marines raising the flag on Iwo Jima is a commemoration of Flag Day???

92% of Black women did NOT vote for him.

There are some criticisms of Trump and the Trump Administration that are overblown but this certainly isn't one of them. Anyone suggesting that it makes sense for a sitting POTUS to have buildings named after themselves or as in this case, change Federal Holiday protocols in a manner that involves their own birthday??? How can anyone with an IQ over 70 try to defend this arrogance and narcissism?

By remembering that commemorating deceased former presidents has long been a thing. Maybe by Flag Day it might make sense.

Did you know that George Washington had numerous ships named named for him - when he was alive?

USS Washington (1775) was a schooner named Endeavor acquired by Gen. Washington in October 1775, renamed Washington, and re-rigged as a brigantine.
USS Washington (1776) was a row galley that operated in Narragansett Bay during the winter and spring of 1776.
USS Washington (1776) was one of 13 frigates authorized by the Continental Congress. She was launched in August 1776.
USS Washington (1776), a lateen-rigged two-masted galley, was built in the autumn of 1776.
USS George Washington (1798) was a 24-gun sloop-of-war commissioned in 1798.

No, I didn’t know that. That’s interesting.
I’m still thinking that the “long been a thing” precedents might allay at least some criticisms in this more current instance.

Congrats, you can celebrate pedophiles, extrajudicial killings, tariffs and your fellow MAGAs struggling to get by. I'll be toasting toastworthy people but you do you.

Tangent: I’m surprised that multiple ships simultaneously in use by the US would share the same name. Didn’t that get confusing?

This is literally how a lot of people think, though.

Too many.

Trump is so fond of money I’m low key fascinated by why he hasn’t started to tax churches and bring in all of that sweet cash into his family coffers.

Like, it’s so obvious, and he truly can’t believe he’ll live for that much longer.

I’d actually love to see him try to topple that one, no taxes on churches, just for the lols

Anyone who supported Trump in 2024 after his dereliction of duty while on the job in 2021 is a complete and utter idiot. Just as with everything else, skin color doesn't matter. You support that idiot, you're an idiot.

Skin color matter's for skin cancer rates though.

Melanoma is about 20 times more common in white people than in Black people. The lifetime prevalence of melanoma between races is:

1 in 38 for white people
1 in 167 for Hispanic people
1 in 1,000 for Black people

https://seer.cancer.gov/statfacts/html/melan.html

Be sure to use sunblock and cover up if you have a lighter skin tone.

In a more cynical note, it's interesting (absolutely not at all racist) that there's such an overemphasis on sunblock psa's in the country.

Which country? The USA?

Well, right now, he still seems too have the support of many white evangelicals. Taxing churches — might change that pretty quickly. Fingers — umm — crossed.
