NP- Penicillin IS a miracle drug regardless of its side effects. |
Obesity has turned healthcare upside down. Maybe these drugs will have some long term negative consequences. But we know obesity (and being overweight) has severe consequences. |
I see you came back with some more ignorant statements. I have been on Ozempic for nearly five years. I have been closely monitored by my primary care doctor and several specialists. No one is placating me and telling me what I want to hear. My doctor put me on Ozempic 5 years ago because I was obese, had high cholesterol, BP, etc. All of that has been resolved now. I guess in your view side effects from THOSE meds are ok because they aren't used for weight loss. Even according to you, all meds have side effects. So why is being on 3 or 4 other meds better than being on one that also allows me to make better choices when it comes to my diet? Furthermore, what EVIDENCE do you have that there will be a massive reversal? Unlike you, I'm not opposed to changing my course if I'm presented with actual evience. |
Now that all of your, very serious, health conditions are cured, will you go off of the meds? |
In your case, the ozempic was called for and worked. The risks were worth it because you were on your way to heart disease. You say you reversed those conditions.nWhen will you stop ozempic? What will happen when you stop? |
That is entirely irrelevant to this conversation and is something I discuss with my doctors. What evidence do you have for the claims you initially made? |
Lots of drugs have to be taken in perpetuity for them to work. Why does that matter? There isn’t the same kind of judgment over cholesterol or BP or diabetes drugs. Just for weight loss. You should consider why. |
| She probably knows the realty that for 15lbs you will use it to lose weight but are unlikely to rally stay on it for life which means you will just quickly regain the weight the minute you go off. Because if you can not lose the weight through diet and exercise you will not maintain it that way and need to be on these medications for LIFE. |

This. My skinny female Dr was the same way a couple years ago only I had more to lose AND prior MI. I went to an endocrinologist who said “you’re EXACTLY who should be on it”. I haven’t changed GPs but it does make me less trusting. With just 10-15 pounds to lose and no health history issues, I’d just pay out of pocket at Ro. |
Especially for 15 pounds. You can lose that over a few months with small dietary changes. Why take the nuclear option for 15 pounds? That doesn't bode well for future weight management if you have to stop the glp or if it becomes ineffective for you. |
That's not true though. Not op but it took me months and months to lose a couple pounds. That was with great frustration too. With GLP-1s? Down to almost normal weight fairly rapidly, and I am eating better than ever and have actually become athletic and fit. I often wonder what women here think losing 15lbs in middle age is really that easy with "small changes". |
You do know that every one of these is generally a lifestyle disease, especially in younger people? But sure, just keep taking meds, whatever they throw at you. |
You miss the side effects part? Sure, it's not "easy", but it's definitely doable without drugs. |
I will. Thanks for your permission. How about that evidence? Can't come up with any? Wonder why? |
