ECNL Kansas City

Parents, like me, paying for all of the mess while staying awful hotels that are mandated to me by ECNL, too. Oh, but give me an option to buy my way out of Event Connect's mandatory stay to play, I mean some one has to get paid. Players missing school, parents missing work for a dog and pony show in the freezing cold while coaches will most likely not show for those two 8 am 18degree games against teams they played last month.

Midwest showcases in Dec don't work....TEN, STL. I mean, come on already. GO SOUTH!

And why is ECNL RL having a showcase the same weekend there? And why are there ECNLRL teams playing in the ECNL showcase when they have their own Showcase the same weekend.

ECNL needs to be broken up.

I'm not sure with this particular event, but we have bought our way out of the hotel options before. I know that my DD's team is doing that in FL. There was a minimum charge that was spread out amongst the team and my DD will be staying at an Airbnb. We did the same in San Diego for playoffs and it was glorious compared to the hotel.

The whole December in KC thing just does seem stupid IMO as well. FWIW, game times on Day 3 already have been shortened to 35 minute halves per our team manager.

How many players from traditional warmer players will start crossing off Midwest Schools after KC this weekend? I know my DD stopped thinking of going to warmer schools after playing in the blazing heat in southern state showcases. Being from the Midwest, she started to realize she didn't like playing soccer in 85-90+ degree weather.

Who would break the league up? What the actual **** are you talking about? Take your daughter to another team in another league.

I get the point of ECNL being broken up as not happening - but OP can have the frustration that it's BS for shorten games, stay and play, poor playing conditions, etc. and just because they have those frustrations doesn't mean they should have to leave the the team and league.

ECNL has parents, clubs and coaches bent over. They are too big and too greedy. I'm out after this year, DD is playing in college next year but ECNL showcases were a joke with the exception of Texas and FL and playoffs in SD. Because the first and second day games were in the sweet spot time of day. Getting the first game in cold or tornado weather, no one shows up to see kids and the last game of each day see less and less coaches and the third day late games there is maybe a coach that has a bad flight time. The rest of the showcases were waste of money and time. I've been doing this ECNL thing for 8 years with two kids. And reading the PP above, why are there RL teams playing in the showcase when they have their own showcase the same days in the same city? ECNL is poisoning the youth soccer.

Yeah, I get what you are saying. My DDs team normally didn't go this December ECNL showcase. They went to FL, TX and then the May showcase in NC in May for a playoff tune-up. Playoffs whether in SD or Seattle are ok. Not going to Dallas is more of a personal thing since we have family there and it was an nice way to catch up with them since we aren't there for many other reasons. In many cases on the 3rd day, lots of coaches are on their way home.

Don't know anything about the RL teams and really don't care. My DDs taam isn't playing any RL teams and has decent games times against good opponents.

Games are shortened on the last day to accommodate travel. It has nothing to do with the weather. There are other options. You people should take your kids there.

Anonymous wrote:What is the average coach count at a game at these larger showcases - not at say the game that pits the top two clubs again each other - but a standard game. Is it 5-7 coaches at a game like that (say a middle of the pack type game - not best two teams, not worst two teams?

i've seen the photos with 50-60 coaches lined up at a certain game and i've seen the photos with 2 ... but on average, how do the sidelines look for the general games?

It doesn’t matter if there are 2 or 50 coaches. What matters is how many are there to watch your player. They already have their list from players who have been in contact with highlight film. If your DD is just playing these games hoping some coach on the sideline will notice her, you are in for disappointment

So, what's the over / under on flights getting delayed tomorrow? I'm traveling with my DD and two other teammates and there's a huge text string about the upcoming weather....

Flying at of Reagan after lunch, so hope things aren't too bad. Fingers crossed.

Good Luck!

My DD’s team had an 8am game yesterday and I’m just glad they got through it without getting hurt! They were ice skating instead of running. Completely dangerous field conditions. Glad that today’s games have been moved back to let the fields thaw a bit but really ECNL needs to stop the madness. No Kansas City or St Louis in December next year! I’m sure both are lovely in say September or May.

DD’s NOVA ECNL practices in much lower temperatures than that. I assume you are all just trolling. Yesterday was normal. Lots of college coaches and good facilities.

Whether ECNL or GA or MLSN, it's the showcase system that needs blowing up. It's designed for the leagues and colleges (and local economies) -- the kids, not so much.

Do you even hear yourself? Of course a college showcase is designed for the colleges. That’s the entire purpose of it. The league exists as a college recruiting platform. I absolutely want these events to be designed for the colleges. What are you even saying?

It could be a heckva lot better, for the kids. That's what I'm saying.
