ICE tried to deport Marilyn from northern exposure?!

Anonymous
I had a group of friends who loved that show, I just knew it from the commercials (for the kids under 40, back then you felt like you knew all the characters from all the shows from the commercials). But even if they watched the show, that was 35 years ago, I wonder how many of my old friends I'd even recognize after not seeing them for 35 years. Probably she'll bring proper ID from now on and look back and laugh at the incident.

How horrible for her to be treated that way, and if anyone else bothers to read the article, members of her family have faced the same

Shame on you posters who are sniping about age and watching some old tv show, that's not the point of the article at all. Grow a conscience.

+1. Wth. Did people just read the name of the show and start typing? Horrible that this is happening to anyone. If you read the full OP and still started typing about the show, you should really think about your values and how maybe being online so much has desensitized you to things.

It goes to prove that DCUM is full of morons with no attention spans.

The OP literally asked how the goons didn’t recognize the actress. Many people explained how that was possible. No, not everyone over 40 watched the show. It was quirky with a niche audience. Maybe the OP should have focused more on what actually happened rather than baiting everyone saying they should know who Marilyn is?

Tell me you’re white without telling me you’re white.

Actually lots and lots of white people (including me) watched Northern exposure. But PP is probably under 40. For PP, do you know Carries cute carpenter boyfriend? Northern Exposure is the tv show that made him famous. HTH.

Meanwhile, what a great Thanksgiving story ….

I never watched Northern Exposure or Sex and the City (is that what you're referring to re: Carrie? Or is that another show?).

There were many shows I did watch in the 90s, but Northern Exposure was not one of them. Here’s a sampling of what I did watch though:

Seinfeld
Friends
ER
Beverly Hills, 90210
Home Improvement
Fresh Prince of Bel Air
Frasier
The X-Files
Full House
NYPD Blue
Blossom
Party of Five
Mad About You

I just watched Sex and the City fully for the first time on streaming a couple of years ago. We didn’t have HBO or cable growing up. I had seen reruns of it occasionally in my 20s.

Ben Corbett played Carrie’s boyfriend on Sex and the City. But I primarily knew him from the movie, My Big Fat Greek Wedding. I had no idea he was on Northern Exposure because I didn’t watch it. CBS was not as popular in the 90s.

90210 and Party of Five, but no Melrose? I call BS.

It’s a sampling, not a complete list!
Also, Abolish ICE!

My Northern Exposure story is that for years until I moved my dental hygienist was Rob Morrow's mom Diane

This actress was a cornerstone character of the series

Yes, Melrose Place too. Best scene ever - Bree removing her wig!

I just listed a sampling. I wasn’t sure if Melrose was a little later than Northern Exposure so I didn’t list it. As you can see, I watched so many shows…just not Northern Exposure.

Also, I wanted to add Sisters. I loved that show!

Nah, probably under 40 and white. Almost every white person over 40 knows who Marilyn is.

Not surprising that the ICE goons have never seen Northern Exposure and are judging people by their skin color. It's unlawful and disgusting.

I’m 47. I’ve literally never heard of Marilyn. I’ve never seen that woman in any other show and I didn’t watch Northern Exposure.

Ok. Most of us on the over 40 age group watched Northern Exposure. Sorry you missed it. It was on from 1990-1996 and then in reruns.

Also untrue. It did not have mass appeal.

+1
I’ve never watched this show and I’m in my 50s. I hate these stupid sweeping generalizations. Never heard of this person.
