| DC got a 1260 and we are thrilled. |
Congrats to your child! Out of curiosity what year is your child and how did this score compare to PSAT? |
We don't have access to that data. Do you know how many MIT admits were NMSF? |
This is an obnoxious post. Do you really believe that there is a huge and obvious difference between a 1520 and a 1600? And particularly between a 1520 in one sitting and a 1600 after multiple attempts? Is the 1520 somehow intellectually inferior? Maybe but the SAT is not the test that will show that. Any successful magnet kid, esp if we are talking about Blair would be VERY well prepared for MIT. In fact, the ones I know say that college is much easier and less intense than high school. |
My kid is at Blair - there are no “commitment posts” to “look up” that I’m aware of. |
Well then I guess you've been living under a rock. blaircommits25 on Instagram. |

If it's his first try and he is open to retaking it, why not try at least one more time? The digital test varies wildly and my kid's score has been up and down even without any extra prep.
He has plenty of available test dates between now and application season. Also, if he is white or Asian, he should probably aim to get at least a 740 because that's the 25% for MIT. |
Unlike you, I have better things to do with my life than stalk teenagers on an unofficial Instagram page, which is not affiliated with the magnet in any way. In fact the magnet kids are told not to discuss college admissions or applications with each other and admissions are downplayed. |
Before I had a kid with the exact same SAT though breakout of verbal vs math different- 780 math 740 verbal I would have thought the exact same thing. Mine was also in a magnet. He got into UMD LEP but Scholars not Honors. He had a 4.9? GPA- whatever 1B on transcript and 1 non-honors class (art). He took PE as a senior so that wasn’t part of his EA profile (non honors). My son had 14 s. The problem is that all the kids are applying to the same schools. If 50 kids have a 1570 your 1520 will get cut. It’s just facts. |

anyone else out there actually not know what your kid got? DC did not want to check on Friday evening and they haven't said anything so I'm just cooling my heels. I figure if it was great news they would have told me and since they haven't they probably not thrilled about it, so will just have to wait til they are ready, and see if they want to take it again.
I just wonder how people know the scores so instantly from their kids, maybe I just tend to have teens with more than average I'll-tell-you-when-i-feel-like-it attitude. |
