If GLP-1’s were free and OTC

Good response!

Fat people have better personalities than skinny ones, so the nicer, kinder, and funnier formerly fat women would be more fun to be with....

Unf the formerly obese men and women I now who lost 50+ pounds get VERY stuck up once “skinny.” Plus over the top make up and sparkley jewelry and clothes for the women. The men still have no muscle tone or cardiovascular health, which is gross.

I don't think that take up of GLP-1 meds would be nearly as high among overweight men as among overweight women. Men don't tend to think their weight is what's holding them back from getting more women to pay attention to them.

Also, remember that these meds decrease your weight but they don't make you toned. You still have to exercise your muscles to look toned. Men will be more apt to accept "thin" but flabby women than vice versa. A man who is not toned is generally not appealing to women, whereas men don't seem to care about flab as much as overall mass/bulk in a woman.

As for me, I'd take a man with a few extra pounds who has a lot of muscle over a thin but flabby dude who can fit into a size medium t-shirt.

I do. Vanity is real, amongst men and women.

Many overweight people (men and women) just don't want to make these changes. Once they stop the meds, the weight gain would come back even to a larger extent. The extra weight often IS related to some personality or psycological aspects that I'm not attracted to. So by at large it won't change much, IMHO.

The extra weight is due to lack of self discipline in eating, drinking and being active (ie health factors). Impulse eating or depression eating isn’t solved at the underlying level either via GLPs.

GLPs don’t suddenly make an obese person eat nutritious meals and work out 3-4x a week. It just suppresses their appetite and thus portion sizes.

Instead of undisciplined fat & obese people there would be undisciplined skinny fat people with loose skin.

Less $$$ of meals and drinks due to lack of appetite.

Agree

The makeup is probably because they’re sick of being ignored. It’s sad but people really ignore fat women. And maybe the stuckupness is really just self esteem when they never had any before?

GLP-1s will never be free or OTC. They are a luxury item, and will be used to continue the class war that has always existed at the core of the wellness/beauty/fashion triangle.

I'd rather pay for my partner's food than their disordered body image and eating issues. And who knows what sort of damage these things will do if you're on them long-term. Yo-yo dieting when people stop taking them isn't great for health either. The rebound is going to be a huge mess.

If they came with free loose skin surgery it might spike the dating market up a few levels.

The meanest, most manipulative woman I've ever met had been formerly kind of chubby but then got very skinny (this was pre-GLP1s, I don't know how she lost the weight). She'd never been fat, just like midsize, but she clearly had a huge chip on her shoulder about it because she believed being thin meant she got to treat other people terribly, and that every man was obsessed with her. It was really annoying.

She got married and then gained the weight back and now she's nicer again.

Make of that what you will.

I have not found this to be true at all. An inability to take care of yourself speaks volumes about many other aspects of people's personality.

The idea that these drugs make everyone skinny is just not reality. In 18 months I’ve gone from a BMI of 35 to a BMI of 28. I’m smaller but not skinny. You’d still have to be ok with thick girls to get with me.

We won't be stuck with the women who think because they are thinner and attractive they can get away with a crappy personality. Now the women who were MIA on OLD, at bars etc because they assumed their weight would be a handicap will now come out in the open.

But assuming these now formally fat women don't suddenly become stuck up as well lol.

It's crazy how a woman just because she attractive she thinks her personality isn't as important.

Honest question- what’s stopping you from approaching overweight women now? If personality and values and character is more important (which I agree with you), and you feel that thin women tend to be lacking in these areas because they think being thin means they can be mean and it won’t matter, why not just date for personality alone and ignore weight? Why does GLP usage among women give you “access to better quality women?” You have “access” to all women as it is. Fat or thin. They’re all out there.

For me I’m just not physically attracted to them.

Hilarious. I guess you're one of the "better quality "guys ? I can't think of a better encapsulation of hypocrisy than this right here.

"personality and character really matter, and I'm a good judge of this because I have good character myself. Oh but what matters to me more than anything is actually how much you weigh. So don't appear in front of my own gross face if you're not thin."

Being fat demonstrates a defective personality and character though.

Does it stop causing weight loss at some point or is it just a matter of time before you reach BMI of 20?
