Bootcut Jeans

I'm one of them. I've got small hips but thick legs. I'm a size 4 in nonskinny pants, but I can't wear most boots because my calves are too large. Skinny jeans won't work for me, and I'm sad about it. I even thought about getting calf lipo....but I can't justify paying the money for it (or taking the recovery time).

Bootcut was great, but it's definitely out. I was horrified by how bad the skinny jeans looked on me. But I found one at Old Navy that was not too tight. I wear with black high heel mules and black socks for the faux boot look.

Huh? So, you make your own clothes? I bet you've worn stuff 10 years ago that looks ridiculous now.

Here's an example of the look:

I have a flat stomach and a flat butt and I look better in low waisted. Boot cut makes my legs look longer - I'm only 5 feet 3 inches so I will always wear pants that are a little long and the style is flattering.

Who cares what is "in"? Wear what looks good, within reason.

You do realize this is the fashion section right? Some people here care what is in....don't come here and act suprised about that!

For those who don't like to wear skinny jeans, a good alternative is slim or straight leg jeans. These are not as flared as the bootcut and they give you a slim line. But they can be more flattering than skinny leg depending on your body type. I have both a skinny and a straight leg. As people mentioned, it is a question of proportions. I wear the skinny with longer shirts, tunic tops.. My more fitted shirts and sweaters, I will wear with the straight leg.

White legged pants are in right now, skinny jeans are out. But it will take DC another year to catch up.

Are any of you pregnant? Although I still wear skinny jeans on occasion, I definitely think pregnancy calls for bootcut or straight jeans.

Did you mean "wide" not "white"?

These pants will make anyone under 5'6" look stumpy.

Not true. You just have to watch the drape and the hem. They look great with flats or wedges, you just want the hem as long as possible without dragging, so get them tailored. I love wide leg jeans, good throwback to the baggy pants era. Very cute and a little subversive if you do it right. Think Annie Hall. Or early 00s rave.

I think I'll continue to be all "boring mom" and stick to bootcut - those pants would make me look like a clown.

ah, being 5'9 and very boy-shaped, this is my dream come true! I hated the skinny jeans look (on me).
