The instructions contradict what is asked in the application, sadly.

The UCs really have their ways of doing things...

Where is your DS trying to enter his SAT scores? UCs are test blind. I read they don’t want to see scores anywhere on your app…

they have a section that ask about submitting test scores, and he told me that SAT was one of the option he can click on. But then when they ask him to input scores, the range where like 2-digit number.

The 2 digit numbers are for subsection scores on the old paper SAT. The portal doesn't have a way to enter the digital one, though it does take ACT scores.

Those subsection scores were used for the English proficiency requirement.

If you select "ABCDF," then it won't let you input +/- for the grades, so every A- becomes an A and does not match the transcript. Concerned, my kid wrote the UC App Help desk and they said select "Other" and put in exactly what the transcript says. So kid went to change the app and then got a Warning message that made her think her original choice was the right one:
Warning
Please review the list of grading systems and select "Other" only if you
do not see your school's grading system. (*If you receive "A B C D F"
with plus or minus grades, you should select "A B C D F" as the grading
system. UC does not recognize plus and minus grades*).

When she followed up with the Help people, they said to use Additional Comments to put in the + and - grades. ???

This has to be a very common question. I don't understand why there is conflicting advice. Can someone advise?

I have a daughter at UCLA. They don’t have pluses or minuses. This is very clear. An A- becomes an A. A B+ becomes a B. Understand?
