The UC portal has a space for test scores for the purpose of satisfying A-G requirements. They are not used in admission.

Entering test scores does not "violate the law"

Specifically referring to SAT/ACT here - the portal does include a spot for them.

The UCs really have their ways of doing things...

Where is your DS trying to enter his SAT scores? UCs are test blind. I read they don’t want to see scores anywhere on your app…

they have a section that ask about submitting test scores, and he told me that SAT was one of the option he can click on. But then when they ask him to input scores, the range where like 2-digit number.

No +/-, also cap how many honors/AP’s count for weighted GPA but they do consider AP scores, esp Cal and UCLA

Out of abundance of caution if you are applying to UC San Diego, I would ask parchment to send of your kiddo's elementary school transcript.

Quick google search will show you how UC calculates GPA

The question isn't how UC calculated the GPA. It's how to present the grades on the application so that they can calculate them

Uc are the most fare in my book. Just straight grades. 10 and 11 No plus / minus. But have to report ap exam scores if you took them or list. Sat scores not needed but in additional section I assume people probably put them in. Which I don’t think is a big deal

You would assume wrong. If an admission's officer used those SAT they would be terminated for cause, immediately.

The 2 digit numbers are for subsection scores on the old paper SAT. The portal doesn't have a way to enter the digital one, though it does take ACT scores.

So what's the official way to submit the scores then? It seems strange that if UC doesn't consider SAT scores, then why do they have a section on their app that asks for the scores (granted it appears they are only allow old paper SAT). So do students just answer they don't have SAT scores to report, even though they do?

BS the UC’s are considering whether to reinstitute SAT/ACT

DP. I am guessing that the PP is referring to this https://senate.ucsd.edu/media/740347/sawg-report-on-admissions-review-docs.pdf , reporting on math issues among incoming UCSD students. Recommendations in clude a return to using standardized testing in admissions.

If your kid can't follow the simple instructions on the form, they're probably not going to thrive at the UC.

Why so rude? The instructions copnstradict themselves. They say to make sure you put in exactly what your transcript says but then do not allow it. The proof that it is confusing is that the response to the applicants question contradicted the Warning.
