My religion is better than other religions. Period.

All religion is tyranny. All faith is an illusion.

Religion gives people meaning and purpose. It makes perfect sense to me if made up by different cultures and men to be a reflection of their best selves and ideals that it would reflect the culture and lives of the people that wrote or created the religion at their best selves.

If they see their religion as their best selves they would then promote themselves as superior which supports their ego.

Religion makes some people feel better. They think they are going to heaven when they die to live eternally.

I don’t care to be a fourth wife or burn to death atop my husband’s funeral pyre.

Disagree. I’m a Muslim immigrant from a country that was colonized by Christians. We had to endure land theft, subjugation, massacres, torture, rape, etc…

Christians certainly did not bring us a “peaceful and egalitarian” society. Quite the opposite!

Do football players think they are superior to basketball players?

A business isn't going to say competitor is better.

I don't think this is the most important issue for every religion.

Maybe for just Christians and Jews and Muslims?

Nope, I'm Jewish and this isn't an important issue for us at all. Judaism is the religion that God gave to the Jews. Not "better."

Which Muslim country offers an egalitarian society for all?

Anonymous wrote:I dont think its just the my religion is better than all other religions , ppl think that about sports teams, music, culture, food.

The following concept that the ppl who follow your religion/culture/food/political party/Ska band are inherently better human beings than other human beings and deserve to be treated with respect that is denied to everyone else is the problem. That concept plus the belief that other human beings dont know what is good for them and you should be allowed to impose your version of what is superior on everyone absolutely needs to be washed out of the fabric of human existence.. And ppl do this ALL the time. Good for you, not for me is the mantra and the idea that there are a chosen / sacred people is toxic and illogical and goes against all observable evidence. All humans beings need to be equally valid, equally sacred and if your differing belief system really was such Good News then, trust me, ppl will come ask about it- no need to shout about it outside your home in the year of our Lord 2025.

Part of the problem is bolded from your post. The Abrahamic religions follow from a belief that only they are a chosen people due to Yahweh's covenant (binding agreement), requiring the Israelites to worship him exclusively and follow his commands. Yahweh likely began as a minor deity in the Canaanite pantheon before becoming the chief deity of ancient Israel, incorporating characteristics of El, the chief god of the Canaanite pantheon. Following the Babylonian exile, Jewish theology progressed toward monotheism, asserting Yahweh as the sole god and retrospectively portraying him as the only divine figure. From this foundation, Christianity and Islam developed. Christians adhere to the Jewish god, but expanded the concept to include Jesus and the Holy Spirit within a Trinitarian framework. The New Testament uses "Lord" to refer to the Hebrew name for god. Islam also reveres the same monotheistic god from the Abrahamic tradition. The Arabic word for god is "Allah," which is derived from al-ilah meaning "the god". This term was used by Arab Christians and Jews before the rise of Islam.

No, that is not Christian doctrine. One of Christianity's main tenets is that salvation is available to all without regard for your bloodline or background. Same with Islam. Seriously, it's annoying how people on this forum just post the most ignorant random statements as fact.

What's annoying is your reading comprehension skills and wanting to make misrepresentative post responses.

What was misrepresented? The pp is wrong, there's nothing more to it.

You are a f()king idiot. A world of information lays at your fingertips yet you continue to be ignorant. Reread the post and spend time pondering it before making an asinine response.

There are a lot of Buddhist cultures/societies that would beg to differ.

I lived in a Buddhist culture for years. Despite what you read online in western media, Buddhist religious practices in implementation are often even more sexist than Christianity. Furthermore their entire value system is entirely different than countries with Christian histories where Buddhist cultures promote conformity and contentment over economic innovation and prosperity. Which in and of itself is not necessarily “bad” however the data speaks for itself. More people want to leave there and emigrate to the west than westerners want to emigrate there.

The world might be better off if more cultures did this.

As another PP said, there's inter-tribal and sometimes intra-tribal violence in all of human history. For Buddhism: therehave been armed conflicts between Buddhist monks and Hindu priests.

Buddhist monks were also directly involved in the horrific massacres of Rohingya Muslims in Myanmar.

I don't think this is the most important issue for every religion.

+1 I am Hindu and I don't think this is really part of our theology

Nor do most Muslims regardless of what it says above

Abhrahmic religions are all messed up.

People are all messed up. Thus, organizations they form, like the church, tend to be messed up too.

Oh right, Islamic societies are clearly more egalitarian and peaceful than Christian ones.

The message of peace is so clear in fact, Muslims commit 99.9999% of global terror attacks. All a noble attempt of spreading peace to the infidels.

All religions are made up nonsense, but Islam is probably the dumbest, except perhaps Scientology.
