My religion is better than other religions. Period.

Why this is the most important issue for every religion?

I dont think its just the my religion is better than all other religions , ppl think that about sports teams, music, culture, food.

The following concept that the ppl who follow your religion/culture/food/political party/Ska band are inherently better human beings than other human beings and deserve to be treated with respect that is denied to everyone else is the problem. That concept plus the belief that other human beings dont know what is good for them and you should be allowed to impose your version of what is superior on everyone absolutely needs to be washed out of the fabric of human existence.. And ppl do this ALL the time. Good for you, not for me is the mantra and the idea that there are a chosen / sacred people is toxic and illogical and goes against all observable evidence. All humans beings need to be equally valid, equally sacred and if your differing belief system really was such Good News then, trust me, ppl will come ask about it- no need to shout about it outside your home in the year of our Lord 2025.

Part of the problem is bolded from your post. The Abrahamic religions follow from a belief that only they are a chosen people due to Yahweh's covenant (binding agreement), requiring the Israelites to worship him exclusively and follow his commands. Yahweh likely began as a minor deity in the Canaanite pantheon before becoming the chief deity of ancient Israel, incorporating characteristics of El, the chief god of the Canaanite pantheon. Following the Babylonian exile, Jewish theology progressed toward monotheism, asserting Yahweh as the sole god and retrospectively portraying him as the only divine figure. From this foundation, Christianity and Islam developed. Christians adhere to the Jewish god, but expanded the concept to include Jesus and the Holy Spirit within a Trinitarian framework. The New Testament uses "Lord" to refer to the Hebrew name for god. Islam also reveres the same monotheistic god from the Abrahamic tradition. The Arabic word for god is "Allah," which is derived from al-ilah meaning "the god". This term was used by Arab Christians and Jews before the rise of Islam.

This basically sums it up. It's more of an Abrahamic religion thing than other religions.

Well, my religion doesn’t accept stoning or honor killing, so there is that. IMO, fundamentalist of any religion can be problematic.

Maybe for just Christians and Jews and Muslims?

because people like to think of themselves as being special, because they follow the "right" god in the "right" way.

This feels like an unnecessarily judgmental way of saying "people think that their own beliefs are correct" which is just self evident. If I didn't think that what I believe was true, I'd believe something else.

Nor do most Muslims regardless of what it says above

You premise is flawed, OP.

I’m atheist but there is really no question that Christianity creates the most peaceful, egalitarian, and prosperous societies.

I don’t care to be a fourth wife or burn to death atop my husband’s funeral pyre.

and because they're taught that

and they believe it, or they switch to the religion that they think IS the best one.

Or they leave religion all together because they realize how silly it is and figure there is no god at all, so there's nothing to worship in just the right way
