Zepbound is changing my life

I used to be hypoglycemic, and if I didn’t eat every few hours, my blood glucose and blood pressure would drop. Wegovy stabilizes that, so I can waltz out of the house with just a banana or handful of nuts now!

It’s extremely rare. The health risks from obesity are worse.

She also has rheumatoid arthritis, and she says it has greatly helped with that. However, every time I see her, she complains about no energy. Every time she has a reason, “I didn’t sleep well, I have a cold, I stayed up late…” But after nine months and literally, I hear her say I’m tired 2 to 3 times a week… I’m starting to be concerned. She will zone out when we are together. Not the same fun and energetic person she used to be. Several of us (her friends) are concerned…
I’m still on the fence, I don’t think I want to be low energy like her.

That has nothing to do with Zepbound.

You may not be familiar with it but inflammation is actually the driver of many (most) chronic conditions. Chronic inflammation has been linked to many medical conditions, including heart disease, diabetes, arthritis, cancer, depression and autoimmune disorders. In short, inflammation is the body’s defense system at work, but when it doesn’t turn off properly, it can become a driver of disease.

Yes, I know what the wellness influencers say. It's something bad, that you can't see/ perceive, but it's killing you and the only way to reverse it is with one simple trick, right?

Any actual scientists around who can shed some light on the health boogeyman du jour?

DP but inflammation is not a gimmick and it's strange that you seem to think so. https://my.clevelandclinic.org/health/symptoms/21660-inflammation

Many autoimmune diseases are, at core, just chronic inflammation. Rheumatoid arthritis is one, but also psoriasis, MS, and Crohn's. https://www.autoimmuneinstitute.org/articles/inflammation-a-driving-force-of-autoimmune-disease/

DP. I have rheumatoid arthritis. Yes, it is a type of inflammation caused by an immune response, but PP is right. Every Instagram grifter is jumping on the inflammation bandwagon and blaming it for every malady. They're also pushing BS supplements and diet cures. No, I can't reverse my joint damage by quitting gluten.

Who in this thread said that you could? In this thread the two examples have been about semaglutide helping reduce inflammation in patients suffering from RA and periodontal disease. Not cutting gluten or buying a supplement from an Instagram ad.

Exactly, so why does OP need to reduce "inflammation?" What is her chronic illness?

I am not OP but I had inflammation diagnosed by my PCP when I had consistently high CRP and Sed Rate levels after a prolonged illness.

Actually, fatigue is a side effect. PP's friend should (1) make sure she's eating enough and (2) consider going down a dosage. People who stay on high doses can get anhedonia - where they just get kind of low energy and blah about things.

NP, but I would describe it as puffiness and pain in joints.

Np you can get compounded prescribed for that weight. I was 130 when I started, which was overweight at my height.

Neither Wegovy or Zepbound have helped my rosacea. It has just gotten worse as I get older.

CRP

The inflammation reduction is real. No doubt. However, after being on glp-1 for a year, I believe it's the bad food that causes the inflammation. I stopped eating stuff that causes inflammation, in fact I eat very little, mostly veggies and fruit. So the gpl-1 is reducing the food that causes the inflammation.

Me, $499/mo.

It’s criminal what these companies get away with. I wonder what the margins are on these drugs.

not criminal at all. same amount leasing a BMW X3 per mo. for some people a new car brings joy for others being thin means happiness.

I started Mounjaro and vaginal estrogen cream at about the same time. I feel great! Inflammation has greatly reduced. I have way more energy. I'm losing weight. Vaginal issues are gone. My husband is even remarking that I'm myself again. I thought the estrogen was responsible for it all, but I'm realizing more of my feeling great has to do with the Mounjaro.

Congrats, OP! This is inspirational. How much weight have you lost?

I am paying out of pocket too, which is hard with my budget, so it's gratifying to hear positive stories as I begin.

For people where their rosacea is tied to underlying inflammation, it can help. But that isn’t all cases.
