You may not be familiar with it but inflammation is actually the driver of many (most) chronic conditions. Chronic inflammation has been linked to many medical conditions, including heart disease, diabetes, arthritis, cancer, depression and autoimmune disorders. In short, inflammation is the body’s defense system at work, but when it doesn’t turn off properly, it can become a driver of disease.

Yes, I know what the wellness influencers say. It's something bad, that you can't see/ perceive, but it's killing you and the only way to reverse it is with one simple trick, right?

Any actual scientists around who can shed some light on the health boogeyman du jour?

DP but inflammation is not a gimmick and it's strange that you seem to think so. https://my.clevelandclinic.org/health/symptoms/21660-inflammation

Many autoimmune diseases are, at core, just chronic inflammation. Rheumatoid arthritis is one, but also psoriasis, MS, and Crohn's. https://www.autoimmuneinstitute.org/articles/inflammation-a-driving-force-of-autoimmune-disease/

DP. I have rheumatoid arthritis. Yes, it is a type of inflammation caused by an immune response, but PP is right. Every Instagram grifter is jumping on the inflammation bandwagon and blaming it for every malady. They're also pushing BS supplements and diet cures. No, I can't reverse my joint damage by quitting gluten.

Who in this thread said that you could? In this thread the two examples have been about semaglutide helping reduce inflammation in patients suffering from RA and periodontal disease. Not cutting gluten or buying a supplement from an Instagram ad.

Exactly, so why does OP need to reduce "inflammation?" What is her chronic illness?

Chronic inflammation is quite different. It can develop for no medically apparent reason, last a lifetime, and cause harm rather than healing. This type of inflammation is often linked with chronic disease, such as:
excess weight
diabetes
cardiovascular disease, including heart attacks and stroke
certain infections, such as hepatitis C
autoimmune disease
cancer
stress, whether psychological or physical.

The type of inflammation seen in obesity, diabetes, or cardiovascular disease, for example, causes no specific symptoms. Sure, fatigue, brain fog, headaches, and other symptoms are sometimes attributed to inflammation. But plenty of people have those symptoms without inflammation.

Me, $499/mo.

Started HRT and peri-menopause issues almost completely resolved. Am still dealing with crazy wacky periods. Started Zepbound and I was finally able to move the needle on the scale. If I forget to eat, I get tired so I have been eating very mindfully which I hope will help me maintain my weight once I back off the shot. Re inflammation—I don’t have any proof that medication is the reason, but I don’t wake up sore anymore and my hips don’t ache at the end of the day so maybe there is a reduction in inflammation or maybe it’s a result of less weight on my joints.

It’s criminal what these companies get away with. I wonder what the margins are on these drugs.

Im not the OP, but I can say, having taken a GLP-1 type drug, that it eliminated swelling I used to get — think swollen ankles on hot days, or swollen hands after walking far with no water. I used to have daily swelling in one leg following surgery some years ago. Started a GLP-1 style drug, and the swelling disappeared within the first month at the lowest dose. Completely. I quickly had two nice, thin ankles again. I would guess the OP experienced something similar.

It's not a gimmick but MDs don't take it seriously and won't treat it so I understand why people think it's a gimmick.

I posted not long ago about having 0 pain after workouts. To me, very odd.

NP. My dermatologist says that her rosecea patients are having it clear up before they lose any significant weight on the GLPs. They clear up within a week or two of starting.

It helps rosacea?? Will anyone prescribe it for that? I am 130 lbs, but have had rosacea for decades. I would love to get rid of it.

Have you tried Soolantra? (Or the generic for it, it’s ivermectin cream). I struggled with rosacea for decades too, but when I started this cream, it was amazing.

Yes, less than 1% of users (0.2% in clinical trails). You know what else has a small chance of getting pancreatitis? Estrogen. Are you on HRT? You could get pancreatitis. Better stop!!!
