States could forbid payroll processing that automatically sends wage and salary deductions to the IRS. And then it would be up to individuals to pay. For many people, just once per year.

+1. Something like this. I'd advocate for the states to require you file your state income tax return, along with your federal, first, via mail or an electronic system that goes to the state government first. The state withholds taxes equivalent to what their citizens send to the federal government. The key is that the states have to structure this so the IRS doesn't have a good case against the average citizen. You need the fight to be over the states' actions.

"Taxation without representation" is pretty a fundamental American principle.
This is such nonsense. Have you ever heard of the Supremacy Clause ? Any state scheme to interfere with federal tax collections would be deemed unconstitutional. And, it would not remove the federal tax debt for individuals, the Feds still want their money.

Perhaps a more workable scheme would be for Democrats to join Republicans in pushing for broader Federal tax cuts and closing or shrinking of Federal agencies. Blue states could then form compacts to shift those agency functions (and tax base) to the state level. For example, the northeast could have its own NIH, CDC, and NSF free from Federal oversight or interference.

There already is a health compact for states that understand that vaccines are good.

But we’re still contributing to RFK’s salary.

Why should we care about the Constitution when Trump doesn't?

If the govt. is shut down and we are not recieving Federal govt. dollars neither should the Federal govt.

We never apply the same leverage we have like the Republicans. We are cowards? acardy cats! They would be doing that right now if they were the big tax payers.

I guess this secessionist line(s) of reasoning like this presume that Democrats are unable to win votes or establish a reasonable platform.

You must have missed the part where the President is illegally redirecting and impounding funds that were appropriated by Congress.

What about Kamala Harris, "Will you accept the results of the election?"
