Why cannot Blue states refuse to pay taxes to the Federal govt.?

All the revenues come from blue states. We never apply any pressure! We have so much leverage and we never use it!

If the govt. is shut down and we are not recieving Federal govt. dollars neither should the Federal govt.

We never apply the same leverage we have like the Republicans. We are cowards? acardy cats! They would be doing that right now if they were the big tax payers.

It is mostly individuals who are paying those taxes, not the states, so it would be up to individual taxpayers to decide to withhold. And given the regime's (ICE) Stasi forces on the ground, it is hard to know if it is worth the risk.

The red states would not allow it. They are too dependent on income redistribution. This country need major reforms reflect that it is no longer a rural white country.

This would be a major part of a soft secession and people are starting to talk about it.

States could forbid payroll processing that automatically sends wage and salary deductions to the IRS. And then it would be up to individuals to pay. For many people, just once per year.

I agree. We who live in Blue states, who pay far more in taxes than the Red states, should just escrow our tax money. The money Trump is withholding from Blue states has already been approved by Congress. If he is illegally withholding federal money from Blue states, those Blue states should withhold money and use that money to replace the money Trump is illegally withholding. It makes sense. It's OUR tax dollars he's withholding. Keep it in the state.

The states can force withholding from paychecks paid within the state go into some sort of account where it could be held and used to replace the tax dollars Congress approved bu Trump is keeping from Democratic states. Trump will say that's "illegal" for the states to hang onto federal withholding from paychecks, but what he is doing is completely illegal. Yet he does it. Democratic states need to fight back. New York. California. Illinois, etc. All the blue states.

What is a blue state these days? My home state of Michigan has gotten more red. Sure, Gov. Whitmer is a Dem, whose star was rising until she released a few videos and held a folder in front her face at the WH, proving she was as looney as the other side.

So many red states have blue urban metro areas. Would it be worth taking down programs for the people in those places in red states?
