One day, I told him to pick three restaurants that he said were terrible. We went to see for ourselves and they were fine to actually fabulous.

I feel like people who like him are the same people that love real housewives.

Name the restaurants.

Yeah, without the restaurant names this is just PP trying to make herself feel superior to Sietsema (and people who like his reviews). And being snotty in the process.

The only place I can remember him totally panning was Founding Farmers and he was 100% correct.

And Ben's Chili Bowl. 100% Accurate. Tom's nostalgia / institution remarks were 100% Accurate. As were his remarks on the food.

" fine to actually fabulous" PP needs to name names.

Carusos is just a nicer version of Olive Garden. It’s not all that.

What's "all that"? In the DMV, what's "all that"?

He’s a very good writer and has been extremely gracious and a good sport in keeping up with chats and continuously offering people restaurant suggestions and advice over the years. Yes, it’s his job, but it seems so repetitive!

I’ll miss his columns but he had a good run and deserves to back off the grind and do other things. Good for him.

Are you his mom? I posted earlier that I think his reviews have gotten worse and worse. I meant the REVIEWS not the restaurants. Different people have different tastes, so that's always hard to judge, but I am glad he's stepping down, times have changed, he has not changed with them.

Who even subscribes to the Washington Post anymore? Everyone I know that worked there has left in the past two years. Tom is leaving for the same reason so much of the staff has left in the past year. And it's not because he thinks it's time for new adventures, LOL!

Omg--that was the worst. Tom is from the generation of critics who referred to Asian food as "exotic."
