Tom Sietsema is stepping down

Wow, its been 25 years or so, a pretty long run. I think Covid would have driven away most critics, much less the current political situation in DC.

Thanks for your work Tom.

Why? Why is he stepping down?

He looks and sounds very different than what I imagined!

We have been very luck yo to have him and before him Phyllis Richman. Almost 50 years between the two of them.

Good, time for a fresh perspective!

He was an excellent critic, and there's something to be said for someone who's extremely knowledgeable and experienced. On the other hand, eating at restaurants more than once a day for decades is going to give you a much difference perspective than the average diner. He sometimes extolled the virtues of places that cooked very simply. But I eat out only a few times a month and look for something I can't cook for myself at all, not just better versions of simple food.

He’s terrible.. my husband used to read him religiously, and we would choose restaurants based on it.

One day, I told him to pick three restaurants that he said were terrible. We went to see for ourselves and they were fine to actually fabulous.

I feel like people who like him are the same people that love real housewives.

Name the restaurants.

It’s been a long time since I read his stuff, but I used to read it weekly. I’ll have to find a picture of his face, since I always wondered what he looked like.
