I sent this to my bored, retired family members.

I suspect these people will all use AI to write their “well organized memos and justifications.” And if they use Grok (which they probably will) then Elon will manipulate the results. But what the hell. It’s only people’s lives that will be affected!

+100 this. This is fairly straightforward you feed the file into Beamon AI tell it what you want it to do. It spits out a legal memo.

From there if you really have to wink and a nod it, pass it under the nose of a “supervisor attorney”, but this is the Trump admin. So, do you really have to, and even if you do email it to a supervisor atty., do they really have to look at it?

So very few people can actually write or read today, and that includes educated people, this is a job that can be done using AI. Sending people to homes is just a performative boondoggle bullying tactic, before the handpicked loyalists with probably be functionally illiterate.

Does anyone actually think this is anything other than make work DEI program for unemployable MAGAs.

Stephen Miller announced today that the federal government is offering $50k signing bonuses for entry level "Homeland Defender" positions that require no education and no experience. The job announcement indicates that these positions are remote so apparently are given an exception to the RTO rules across the rest of the federal government. They are also using Direct Hire Authority in order to just hire anyone who applies that fits their definition of a "patriot."

better than the Democrats creating remote jobs for H1Bs and OPTs . much rather give work to US citizens. but to DCUM land that is immoral.

this is what Democrats and progressives believe in.

“Our goal is clearly NOT to find a qualified U.S. worker…our objective is to get this person a green card…so certainly we are not going to find a place where applicants would be most numerous.”

Sounds like a made up job to give people like farmers who vote MAGA and need money. It’s a form of universal basic income, it’s welfare for the red states.

Apply for this job, no experience needed, as long as you fit our profile, and we give you pay and benefits.

No one in that Twitter video mentioned anything about their politics.

Not telework.

It literally says it’s a remote position in the job announcement. That means full time work from home in government speak.

It says one of the duties is in-person interviews. Go read the job description--not just the front page.

Not sure it is work from home. Probably depends. I think "in-person" means not on zoom.

Nope its remote position but requires a 5 week training
"Selected candidates are required to attend and successfully complete the USCIS Immigration Service Officer Basic (ISO BASIC) Training Program located with the USCIS Academy Training Center in Charleston, SC. The ISO BASIC Training Program is approximately 5 weeks of academic instruction on the Immigration and Nationality Act, Code of Federal Regulations, and other immigration-related topics. Failure to meet the minimum exam average by the end of the course is grounds for removal from the position."

Also interpreting and writing briefs is not a G7 position. WTF

do they want writing skills or Chat GPT skills?

This position IS NOT considered "essential"

GS-05: You qualify at the GS-05 level if you possess three (3) years of progressively responsible experience

This is hysterical. They think an entry level person with no education can "Write well-organized, logical, often complex legal decisions and opinions

I would love to see the work product they produce.

BTW, I'm not an elite liberal, nor did I go to some fancy college. I went to a B rated state u, but I know that you need a decent amount of education to do this. But, then, look at the lawyers Trump has hired, and their work product. So, I guess hiring uneducated people fits the administration.

Remember one of Trump's lawyer used chatgpt to write a brief, and the judge called them on it because there were inaccuracies? That's what I see coming.

Miller must be desperate because all the real competent lawyers are leaving the DOJ and the administration, and they are left with insurance lawyers.

How is this possible? Is this an AI job with a human face?

Also, I heard that some of the new federal jobs were more like contractors and wouldn't be getting pensions, etc, is that the case here?

I'm pp, not because AI writes well, but this admin loves AI slop. The lawyers have all been complaining about it.

It’s a good thing we have a roadmap for firing these people en masse when the time comes. Hope you don’t get too dependent on the government teat, kids.

I don't understand how this:

Write well-organized, logical, often complex legal decisions and opinions that are clear, consistent with adjudicative standards and legislation, and are applicable to the facts of the case or which communicate USCIS policies and procedures.
Complete and update administrative reports, systems, and security reporting requirements in accordance with applicable regulations and procedures.

Research and interpret sources including immigration laws and regulations, operating instructions, legislative history, precedent decisions, state and local laws, and international treaties to determine adjudicative decision.
Plan and conduct independent research concerning the eligibility and entitlement of persons seeking benefits, employment, and/or legal status under the Immigration and Nationality Act as amended.

goes together with this:

This entry-level role requires no college degree.
