I think it was a wink-wink nudge nudge grey area given the fact that the "right" visa flat out does not exist, and the Koreans were as close to compliance as they could possibly be within the visa system, and while conducting activities that will create US jobs. Shackling them, the treatment they received in detention, all of that was well beyond the pale and is going to have a generation's worth of impact on Korean impressions of the United States, and willingness to do business with us.

This is not a total digression from the Eastern MS case, to be honest. Just as immigration officials had the option to pursue the Korean case with some discretion, they also had the option not to attempt to apprehend these two guys in front of a middle school. They had the option not to rough them up in front of hundreds of children. At every point, they are choosing the maximalist, most traumatic, and most harmful option.

Do you have a video that shows exactly what happened? Can you provide proof that this was the 'maximalist, most traumatic, and most harmful option' or is that just your opinion?

Anyone, on either side, can make up any 'description' they please. I'm not making a judgement either way unless I actually see a video. If you have one, please do post a link because I'd be interested in seeing what actually occurred!

The trauma and fear in the community are themselves real facts that require a response no matter what a video might show.

This article suggests that the Koreans might have been targeted to make up Steven Millers quota of 3000 daily arrests by ICE.
