Walkinshaw will win. He doesn’t need my vote. The 11th District is reliably blue no matter who. If on the extreme off chance that he doesn’t win, oh well.

Remember all those voters who sat out the presidential election because of Gaza? They are partially responsible for the mess that is the Trump presidency. No candidate is perfect but that doesn’t mean you shouldn’t vote. It’s all we have.

Trump seems tame compared to the world ending disaster that would have been unleashed by Kamala Harris.

Then you live in a different place than most people in Fairfax. Our local economy is being devastated by Trump. (Not to mention all the other issues with his lawless administration.)

I think devastated is quite strong. Yes, some government employees and contractors have lost their jobs. But this is a risk non government employees face all the time. Why should government employees be different? Houses keep selling in my Fairfax neighborhood. Usually fairly quickly and at good prices. I have not seen reports of widespread issues in Fairfax.

Then you are not following the news. Unemployment is up - jobs have been cut in private sector (gov contractors mostly) and federal sector. Housing inventory is much higher than last year. And this is all while many fired feds are still being paid. Things will get even worse after this month.

The fault is with local government. Economic development has always been "How do we attract a large government agency to our county?" Not, how do we diversify the economy. Not, how do we encourage private sector development. Fairfax County's latest brain child is rebranding South County as Potomac Banks to encourage tourism. How many years was spent on that genius marketing move?

While they could have worked to diversify away from government a bit, this sudden attack on the economy and our skilled workforce is not local government’s fault. It’s trump’s fault and the dangers of his removal of science, data and expertise will affect the whole country. Also, if you follow the national economy, the numbers show Trump is wrecking the national economy, too.
