| Any investment product sold through a church is a scam. |
| The crypto might not be a scam, but the "church" is. |
| If it's an MLM you make the real money through recruiting. So you need to find out if you are expected to also recruit. |
It's just people at the church, not related to the church. "People in our church are trying to sell people" |
| Update on the church crypto scammers: So now that church members have put their hard earned money into this crypto brand a couple months ago, it has peaked and is now on the downward slide - people are losing money. These people promoting it are urging people to buy more on the downward slide and asking people to have faith and pray for it to go back up in value. Pastor says nothing. |
No surprise. When I was a kid, our church had some people involved who held "wellness seminars" that they tried to tie to the church teachings. It was really an MLM sales pitch for various supplements and BS products. A tale as old as time. |
| Churches should not be selling financial products to congregants. That is not the purpose of a church. |
The money likely isn’t real (eg what they’re seeing in their accounts is just #’s they can’t withdraw, the scammers have already taken the money). We had something similar happen to an older couple we know. I’d take this extremely seriously and report this to your local FBI branch / office, they’re the first stop for suspected crimes like this. You can stay anonymous if you’d like. |
Don't tell Thrivent this! |
How do you know if you are buying it through a legit or scam website? How do people by Bitcoin? |
|
All crypto investing is a SCAM unless 1) it is managed by you directly on an established, well-known platform such as Coinbase and 2) the asset has been around for a while such as BTC and ETH and maybe a few others. Otherwise its a scam or pump and dump scheme. This should.be common sense by now.
