If your kid applied REA/SCEA to HYPS in the past few years

Was your son accepted?

Yes, he was accepted. But we were definitely worried bc of the lower q1 grade in a core class.

Thanks for sharing. We're in the same situation. One B on the q1 report.

Grades were auto sent by the school and we were stressing. The math grade was based on a single test and the history on a single paper.

Is your kid a URM or athlete?

No, an Asian girl

Which Ivy, or if you don't want say, was it one of HYP or another one?

And this is why other people hate the perceived privilege and presumption of the feeder school culture.

+1 Do you really think they think your kid dances on moonbeams and rainbows just because you went to a "feeder school?" There are few true feeder schools for HYPS in the DMV area, and these schools accept less than 3% of applicants worldwide.

TJ is a “feeder”. A few years ago 5 kids were accepted early action from NoVA. 2-3 of those acceptances were TJ kids

I doubt it. Lots of RD schools ask for a midyear report though. Can he pull up the C by Jan?

Our high school won't send Q1 grades unless asked and Yale hasn't asked. DS's grades are great so should we send anyway? Is my public school student at a disadvantage if private's are automatically sending? We were told not to send things unless asked because it annoys them.

My public school kid (not in DMV) has applied SCEA as well and has not submitted Q1 grades since Yale does not ask for them and we were advised by private counselor not to send them extra stuff.

+1. Didn’t want to be annoying, and our school doesn’t send unless asked

Yes, don't send if it's not required. They would have asked if they wanted to see them. Decisions are coming out next week or the week after so don't send now unless contacted by school.

Yes, TJ is a feeder for Harvard too, the only DMV area school on the Harvard Crimson list analyzing 2009-2024 enrollment.

Which is why PP was correct to say that "there are few true feeder schools for HYPS" in the DMV area.

Yes for Harvard, but at my kid's DCPS, we didn't need to submit until after we'd heard a waitlist. DS was waitlisted, did a LOCI, sent another rec, sent a thesis, sent grades. Admitted c/o 2029.

I heard Princeton Q1 grade check requests have gone out. What does it mean if DC doesn’t receive one? All hope lost? I think DC is a competitive applicant but attends a “feeder” school.

It’s too late to send now, so don’t stress.

I don’t know but my dc didn’t get one either (unless counselor didn’t tell him). Legacy, public school. Not much to do but wait.

For those whose kid submitted Art Supplements that involve youtube videos. If there are no views, does that mean pretty much mean rejection is around the corner?
