| I think it would be great if it were done in some sort of stone or maybe even brick. Perhaps it can be faced in the future. |

"I know more about grass than any human being anywhere in the world." Trump said.

Melania restored the Rose Garden in 2016-2020. Why are you blaming her for Trump's awfulness? |
This. I don’t like her but this isn’t her fault. |
| How can someone with so much money be so tacky? |
| Assume it's made to look like one of his golf clubs, so he is more comforted when he is sundowning. |
Money does not equal class. Trump says he loves the uneducated. Because he's one of them. His daddy bought his college degree. He never really experienced the world in the way that lots of people who go to college do. Many people go to college to meet people who are different from themselves and to learn about how the world is much bigger than the area they may be from. They learn to appreciate different ways and forms of being. Trump wants to get rid of colleges (or make them miserable). He thinks they are brainwashing people into "liberalness" or whatever. The fact is that colleges help people see different perspectives and Trump does not like that. That said, many people who don't go to college are self taught and have learned a lot about the world. Trump can't stop that from happening. Curiosity is a mindset. Creativity and imagination are wonderful gifts that a person doesn't need to go to college to embrace. Trump only does money and power. Unfortunately he has passed this way of thinking on to his children. |
You also know this country is gonna be miserable for decades if the next century. |
+1 When Franco came to power in Spain (1930's) many great artists and intellectuals left. They went all over, but something that I recently became aware of is that many went to Mexico. If you visit San Miguel de Allende there is a beautiful art museum there filled with incredible art from these Spanish people. Spain did not recover for many decades. It too was also once a world power (along with England) . . . during the age of discovery. But it fell pretty far. It can happen to us. |

I don't think Melania was involved, OP.
In general, and with two glaring exceptions (blood-red Christmas trees and "I don't really care" jacket), she has classic good taste. Her husband, on the other hand, doesn't understand that transferring Versailles gilding to other buildings usually doesn't go very well. This is because Versailles is a period piece. The outside goes with the inside. It's only accepted and admired within its historical context. I'm French, and have a castle, so these things are important to me. |
I expect to read in a book in about a decade that that was the reasoning behind this. |
| Maybe also some sort of data collection system was easier to sneak into the White House this way? |
| There is nothing permanent about anything Trump is doing. He’s here to cause four months of pain, then it all gets undone (including this tacky patio). |
